Chapter 8

  • " I think I don't have any more important work for today," said Daniel to a blonde woman Melissa hadn't noticed before, who walked beside him with a flirtatious air, a woman too beautiful who looked like a model.
  • " That's perfect " replied the blonde to some strange conversation they were having. Daniel winked at her, and she spoke again,
  • " See you at 6 there " She gave him a kiss, brushing the edge of his mouth, and left, swaying her huge and unnatural rear.
  • "What bad taste," Melissa said to herself, feeling ignored by the man who had passed by her a minute ago and didn't see her.
  • On the way back, Daniel was surprised to see Melissa and tried to hide it by talking to the receptionist before sitting next to Melissa and whispering,
  • " You weren't supposed to look for me at work. I wasn't planning on standing you up " and he laughed.
  • " Of course, I'm here for you," she said sarcastically, trying to ignore him.
  • " Come on, I'll take you to Diana then," said Daniel louder, being heard by the intrigued receptionist who was watching them.
  • " Thank you, but I think I should wait like everyone else " She was more serious than usual.
  • " Good girl," said the man, raising an eyebrow as he smiled mischievously. Seeing her expression, Melissa blushed too much and said,
  • " I'll wait, thank you, sir, just like everyone else. Daniel got up."
  • " Come on, you're not like everyone else, come with me " It was an order, and the shy girl followed without knowing why.
  • " Is she not busy? " she said, avoiding the judgmental gaze of the receptionist.
  • "She had to urgently go to Tampico for work reasons " Daniel laughed when they were far from that woman. " I don't know why she made you wait in reception " he laughed again.
  • " Witch " Melissa blurted out, blushing afterwards.
  • " You blush too much, it's cute " Daniel's voice was heard as they got into an elevator and he pressed the top floor.
  • " I think I should go, sir, I was just looking for Diana, and now I don't know what I'm doing following you if she's not here."
  • " Maybe it's my magnet for pretty girls," he said, winking at her. Melissa remained silent, thinking he was making fun of her. "Plus, we have a date. Don't you forget?"
  • " Could you stop playing with me now? " She didn't know where she found the courage to say that.
  • " Play? I'm just looking to make you pay for the suit you ruined " the man joked.
  • " I... I'm sorry."
  • " Just kidding, beautiful! Don't worry about it, it wasn't a big deal."
  • " Please don't call me that."
  • " But that's what you are, a very beautiful girl."
  • " Enough, or I'll leave. Actually, she didn't know why she hadn't left from the beginning."
  • " Let's make a deal. I'll avoid calling you what you are, and you stop calling me "used." Let's be friends."
  • " You have no right to call me beautiful or pretty or any of those things I don't like, and I'll call you "used" out of respect."
  • "Although what I would like or what I want is to disrespect him," she thought.
  • She didn't know why she didn't run away as she always did. That man had something that seemed to tie her to his feet.
  • " Sorry then, I'll try to bite my tongue when I want to call you that. And come on! I'm not that old for you to call me "used."
  • "How sexy he is," Melissa thought as the elevator stopped. Either the elevator was slow or time felt eternal to her.
  • Just as they exited, a woman with a secretary style approached Daniel.
  • " Sir, Miss Cinthia called and asked me to return her call as soon as you arrived."
  • " Damn Miss Cinthia," said Daniel. Melissa felt ignored. "She is Diana and Martha's niece, my assistant," he introduced.
  • "Martha? She's older than I thought she would be as an assistant. I mean, she's not ugly, but she's a lady... I suppose," Melissa thought to herself as she smiled at Martha.
  • Melissa
  • We entered what I assumed was Daniel's office, and I really didn't know what the hell I was doing there.
  • " Of course, beautiful, it's a good proposal," the clumsy man said on the phone, then listened to what the silicon woman replied. I just looked around and touched photos, books, and anything that crossed my path, paying attention to what he was saying. "Don't think too much, Cinthia. I don't usually make that kind of proposal twice," he heard again. My head was full of doubts, but I wasn't anyone to question him. "Enough doubts, do you want to? I'll see you at the Impala at 5 pm, and you can tell me to my face whatever you want."
  • Surely he made her as nervous as he made me, and she wouldn't be able to deny him anything. The Impala was a hotel... I can already imagine that it starts in the restaurant and ends in a luxury suite.
  • I must admit I was angry, even though I knew he would never look at me the way he looked at that woman.
  • " How about we go in my car? " Daniel suddenly said.
  • " What? Where to? " I was too surprised.
  • " You said you would invite me for coffee. What if we go somewhere else? The one nearby smells like an office."
  • " I didn't say anything, and you said 4 o'clock," I said, remembering that I had plans with someone else at 5, and I would probably come out victorious by going to Nani's house if that can be considered a victory.
  • " Let's go, I have an idea. It's been a while since I've been to that place " he said, getting up from his chair behind the desk and grabbing some papers.
  • Once again, it felt like an order. What's wrong with you, Melissa? Are you going to do everything he says? You sound like a lapdog. Shut up. Have you seen him? He's so handsome, sexy, perfect, etc. Besides, it's just once or twice or a few more times that I'll do what he says... A whole struggle between my inner selves.
