Chapter 4

  • Melissa
  • "Excuse me, teacher, it won't happen again " I tried to fix it, extremely embarrassed, everyone was looking at me.
  • "Well, you'll apologize later," she said, the daughter of... her mother.
  • It's true that sometimes I get distracted for no reason or because I'm hungry, but it had never happened because of a guy, and now thanks to him I'll have my first punishment in my life.
  • While waiting in the principal's office, I took out my inseparable water bottle and took a couple of pills that I had found online a while ago that was supposed to suppress hunger, and so far they work well. I think they might be harmful in the long run, but right now I don't care.
  • "Do you feel okay? " Said a blond boy, with blue eyes that hypnotize. His name is Andrés, Andrés Echeverría, impossible not to know him, he's with me in anatomy and other subjects, he also wants to study medicine or at least that's what they say, he's the typical handsome popular guy who attracts everyone and who I thought would never speak to me.
  • "Yes, thank you, why? " I tried to continue the conversation.
  • "Nothing, I saw you taking pills and thought you were feeling dizzy or something."
  • "No, they're nothing really. Today I came in full force, right? " Upon hearing this, he couldn't help but laugh. "What's so funny? " I said, a little confused.
  • "You really made her angry, she's green with rage," he said and started a bad imitation of the teacher, "I can't believe you're so thoughtless, I've put in effort in every class only for you to end up saying that I'm talking about a topic we covered weeks ago... You know what? The project that was due at the end of the semester is now due next month." Then he continued, "You messed up big time, everyone is mad at you even though no one was paying attention."
  • "Damn, I moved up the deadline by 2 months and I have no team. Why did she send you?"
  • "She sent me to ask them to publish the deadline for all groups, I'm not punished, but I don't want to go back to class."
  • "Sure," I said because I didn't know what else to talk about.
  • "I'll leave the message and come back," he said, all smiles, I just nodded and smiled.
  • The bell rang and the anatomy teacher appeared on the floor where I was, she didn't tell me to go to the principal's office or anything, she just sat next to me and said cruelly.
  • "There's no worse punishment than your classmates and everyone in my anatomy class hating you because you made me move up the deadline for a project that counts for half of the semester's grade. You can go, Villaseñor."
  • What the hell did I just hear? Damn old lady, but she can screw herself because no one was talking to me anyway, as if I cared if they hate me. That's what I was thinking when Andrés reappeared.
  • "We have the same class, right?"
  • Did he know me?
  • "I have composition " I tried to make it seem like I had never noticed him in my classes, I didn't really find him that attractive. Not now that I compared him to Daniel.
  • "I feel the same, let's go."
  • We arrived late and the teacher was giving the last instructions for a project that I had no idea about. I simply sat in a corner at the back, under the furious gaze of many.
  • "By the way, I need you to hand in the project mentioned before 12 noon on Friday " the teacher announced before leaving the classroom.
  • "Damn, what project?" I thought until I heard "Write an imaginary interview with someone like Vincent Van Gogh " Andrés replied "What the hell? " I blurted out, thinking Andrés had read my mind "About the project, I thought you wanted to know," he said, somewhat surprised but with a flirtatious smile "Yes, thank you very much " I felt embarrassed by the abrupt response I gave him "If you want, we can do it together, they say it was requested in pairs " he looked at me expectantly. I stayed silent like a fool and when I didn't receive a response, he winked at me and left a small piece of paper with his phone number on the seat, turned around, and left.
  • I seriously couldn't believe what had just happened. I had Andrés Echeverría's phone number, the most handsome and desired boy in school in my hands.
  • It was certain that he was making fun of me, maybe revenge for the anatomy incident. It wasn't possible for something like this to happen to me, although thinking about it, I had a "date" with Daniel and that was even more impossible.
  • I started thinking about him again, Daniel, what a beautiful name.
  • What should I wear? Should I fix myself up?
  • "Enough, Melissa," I said to myself softly as I walked towards the waiting car "It's more than obvious that he was just being kind offering you the book, he'll probably give it to you and leave, he would never like you"
  • Arriving home, I took a shower and tried to eat something with my brother Mario, who had waited for me to accompany him to a football game. While eating, my head was a mess.
  • "Damn it, Melissa, you're going to ruin all the effort of so long with all that food. Have you seen how much fat is in the breading? How many calories are you consuming? FAT"
  • That happened every time I tried to eat, my damn annoying inner self threw bombs of words and horrible memories at me. I had to finish it and this time I wanted to hold it in, I really wanted to, but I wasn't brave enough. All the words with which I mentally attacked myself were stronger than my intentions and I went straight to the bathroom to vomit. It's horrible to feel that every day you are more and more sunk, I hate myself.
  • I washed my face and smiled, nothing could overshadow the play of my little love. During the game, I shouted his name as loud as I could and he smiled, he was as lonely as I was and I liked seeing how he forgot.
  • Arriving home, I took a shower. If I had homework, I didn't remember it. The only thing I thought about for a while was what I would say or how I would act when I saw him, and I went straight to sleep. After all, that Tuesday had been a rather strange day.
