• I felt embarrassed and ashamed to raise my head when I heard him announce that the concubines would be competing for the position of the noble consort. That wasn't our deal and he went against it because he knew that I wouldn't do anything about it. After all, I was a nobody and that was why he could treat me as if I meant nothing to him.
• "If I were you, I'll never come back after everything that happened to you," Danielle said as she stood in front of me. She folded her arms and laughed at me. "If you have any shame at all then you wouldn't show up for the competition because you would never become someone like us," She said.
