Chapter 3 You Are My Property

• Ethan is trying to understand what is happening, he tries to move, but he can't, his will is to scream at that woman who is sobbing like a madwoman beside him, as if that wasn't enough, she leans on the bed and buries her face in her own arms while continuing with that distressing cry, without even looking at him, Ethan follows with a feeling of anger at observing that pathetic scene, he slowly turns his head to the other side and sees a glass of water on the nightstand, he tries to raise his hand, but he can't, he spends several minutes trying to move his hand until he succeeds and then he does the same with his whole arm, until he manages to reach the glass, his whole arm is trembling with effort and when he reaches the glass, he drops it, because his hand doesn't have the strength to hold it, the noise of the glass breaking startles Katherine who impulsively gets up from the chair. When she sees the man who was just a few minutes ago with his eyes closed looking lifeless watching her, she feels her heart racing and thinks she is the unluckiest person in the world, for her husband to wake up so quickly, because she doesn't know what awaits her from now on. She wipes her tears and presses the emergency button. Peter enters the room immediately and when he sees Ethan with his eyes open, he leaves the room and calls Amélia.
• "Mrs. Carter, he's awake."
• "I can't believe it, Ethan woke up? I'm coming there, Peter, don't let Katherine leave his side. She must accompany her husband all the time."
• "You can count on me, Mrs. Carter, I'll take care of everything until you arrive."
• When he enters the room again, the room is filled with doctors and nurses and Katherine is in the corner of the room with a depressed look, Ethan's gaze is constantly on her, he hates the presence of that weak woman in his room. He doesn't remember what happened and why he is there and has no idea who she is, when the doctors finish examining him, they leave the room and Peter follows them for news, Katherine remains motionless in the same place, Ethan closes his eyes to avoid his displeasure with that ridiculous scene he observed for many minutes. His grandmother arrives at the hospital accompanied by the rest of his family, when they arrive, Ethan watches all of them hugging the unknown woman, as if she were close to them. Everyone is very happy that he woke up, the only one who isn't is Katherine, but she hides her feelings, she was scared when she saw him there, looking lifeless, but secretly thanked for that, she felt guilty for thinking that, but she was relieved, because he would never touch her, now she doesn't know what to expect. It has been a few weeks since Ethan woke up, until he could do some basic things, like regain his movements and speech, he would often wake up and find Katherine crying beside him, with a tired and depressed look, as Amélia did not allow her to leave his side. That irritated him more and more each day and the first question he asked when he spoke was directed at Katherine.
• "Who are you? "Her voice was low and hoarse. "Katherine is speechless when she hears him and when she opens her mouth to reply, she is interrupted by Amélia, who enters the room to see her grandson."

• Katherine follows the orders she receives, without questioning. A few days ago, the doctor told Amélia that Ethan's condition was still delicate, that he would need long months to fully recover, and that they need to wait for the tests to ensure that he had no sequelae. She has always been very honest with her grandson and never hid anything from him, he became the love of her life the day he was born, she does everything for him.

He becomes even more angry with Katherine, that woman is the daughter of the man who brought him there.
