• Yasmin’s mother, Clara, was calling. “Yasmin, what do you think about Sean?”
• She darted a look at Lionel reflexively and noticed that he was still sound asleep. Yasmin whispered, “Um, fine, I guess. Mom, it was my first time meeting him. There’s really nothing much to say.”
• Clara only had ears for the first part of her daughter’s sentence. Delighted, the woman said, “Fine is good. His mother called me to tell me that you made a very good impression. She kept praising you. She also asked if you were interested to further the relationship. I’m calling to tell you that I’ve already agreed on your behalf.”
