Chapter 8

  • Adrian bit on his lower lips with an angry look on his face as his gaze on Brian, who had a sly smile on his face as he forced the sedative into the glass cup of drink she was holding.
  • She was so carried away by his sweet words that she didn't notice what he was doing at that moment.
  • He wanted to go forward and challenge Brian to spike the drink of his wife but he stopped himself as he remembered that he wasn't with any evidence.
  • No one would believe it. He could only try to warn his wife to avoid and stay away from Brian.
  • He had always known that Brian didn't have good intentions toward his wife but he didn't tell his wife because she would think he was jealous and she might get angry at him.
  • And besides, she had been loyal to him.
  • He took a cold breath when he remembered that his wife and his mother-in-law were angry at him for turning down General Lei Feng's daughter's offer.
  • He could only hope that she would listen to him and stay away from Brian but he wouldn't be able to do anything if she insisted on staying with Brian.
  • He leaped toward his wife while clenching his crutches. Sarah looked up as she heard the sound of his crutches hitting the floor. She frowned as her gaze landed on Adrian, who was coming to her.
  • “Please excuse me, guy,” she excused herself from the friends she was chatting with. Brian was among them.
  • “What do you want?” She asked in a calm tone and he looked up at her.
  • “I want to tell you something,” he said and cleared his throat.
  • “Yes, I want to hear it. I want to know how you managed to revive Miss Evelyn and spot the problem,” she muttered in a calm tone and stared at him admiringly.
  • His heart fluttered as he heard her statement. The fear and anxiety inside of her dispersed into thin air almost immediately after she finished her statement.
  • He was glad that his wife didn't blame him for making such a decision.
  • “I'll tell you when we get home but I came here for something else. And it's important,” he said and she arched her eyebrows.
  • “Important? What is it?” She asked and stared at him curiously.
  • She wondered why he looked so serious.
  • “It’s about Brian,” he said and she looked up at him.
  • “What's up with him?” She asked with a confused look.
  • “I noticed something strange about him and how he'd been doing to you so I suggest you should stay away from him,” he said and she frowned.
  • “What! Don't tell me you made me leave my friend because of this?” She asked with an angry look on her face.
  • He nodded his head gently. “Yes. Please stay away from him because he has bad intentions toward you,” he said.
  • “Keep quiet,” she snapped at him.
  • “Don't tell me that you're jealous of my relationship with him. It's just a friend and business partner relationship,” she said and scowled.
  • She couldn't believe that she called him out so that she could ask him such a question.
  • “But what made you think he loved it that way?” He asked and she shook her head vehemently.
  • “That's enough, okay. I have had enough of you today,” she said and tried to walk away but he leaped forward and held her arm.
  • “Please believe me this time,” he said desperately.
  • “The last time I believed you, what did I get in return? I was humiliated and embarrassed so I don't want that to happen again,” she said and tried to snatch her hand away but he kept holding onto her.
  • She got angry and pushed him away. He lost his grip on the crutches and crashed hard on the floor with a heavy thud. The noise attracted noise.
  • “You should have listened when I told you to stay away from me,” she muttered and left the scene to meet Brian, who had a sly smile on his face.
  • “Look at him.”
  • “So shameless. Chasing someone like Miss Sarah?”
  • “Wake up from your dream, douchebag.”
  • “She can't be with him.”
  • The people who were around mocked him but he refused to let any of those comments get to him. He ignored it and staggered back to his feet.
  • He was determined to save his wife.
  • He got angry and leaped toward Brian.
  • “How may I help you, Mr Adrian?” Brian asked, with sarcasm dripping from his voice.
  • “It's simple. I want you to abort whatever evil plan you have against my wife because I won't let you succeed,” he warned.
  • “Are you threatening me?” Brian asked, unfazed by Adriana's cold gaze.
  • “Whatever you take it as. Stay away from my wife,” he said in a cold tone.
  • “Watch and see whether I'll succeed or not,” Brian said with a smirk as he watched Sarah drinking from the wine he'd drugged.
  • Adrian bit on his lower lips as he watched his wife drink from the wine. He walked out of the hotel and waited outside for an hour until Brian came out with his wife.
  • His wife looked weak and vulnerable. Her cheeks were red as tomatoes.
  • He decided to follow them. He couldn't afford anything to happen to his wife.
  • He hailed a cab and entered it without even negotiating with the driver for the price.
  • The cab followed Brian's car from a distance so he wouldn't be able to notice anyone trailing him.
  • Brian stepped out of his car with a smile beaming on his face. He opened the driver seat and carried her into his arms.
  • The receptionist greeted him warmly and gave him the keys to the room without wasting time.
  • Adrian came out of the car and clenched to the crutches so he wouldn't fall. He brought out some cash from his pocket and handed it over to the driver, who took off.
  • “Good evening, ma'am,” he greeted the receptionist after entering the standard hotel.
  • “How may we help you, Sir?” She asked, staring at him disdainfully. She didn't hide the contempt in her voice.
  • “Please what's the room number of the man who carried a drunk woman inside?” He asked hastily.
  • “Why should I give you such vital information?” She asked coldly.
  • “That's because I'm his friend,” he lied without blinking and the receptionist scoffed.
  • “I doubt that. Your appearance is nothing compared to theirs,” she said.
  • “What does my dress have to do with my relationship with them?” He asked in a frustrated tone and she scoffed.
  • “I suggest you leave before I call the security guards on you,” she said and he ignored her.
  • He glanced through her laptop and his gaze caught a glimpse of Brian's name on the system and the room code.
  • He left the receptionist and ran up the stairs to the room, not caring about his condition. He wouldn't be able to forgive him if anything happened to her.
  • Getting to the room, he kicked the door open, and to his surprise, the door creaked open. He clenched to the crutches to stabilize his stamina.
  • His eyes burned with anger as his gaze landed on Brian, who was about to have sex with his
  • wife.
  • She was almost naked. Her clothes were stripped off. She was only in her panties and bra.
  • “How dare you, Brian!”
