Chapter 16

• I can feel Roy’s gaze on me as we both made our way into the living room. Since it was the weekend, my mother had asked that we leave Alexander with her, so after tucking him in and saying good-bye to the guest, we both left the party.
• To say the ride back home had been tense would be an understatement, not when there was this tension, the sexual kind, hanging around when we were in close proximity. It didn’t help that things were still a bit awkward between us after the night she had stayed out late.
• “I need a drink,” I tell Royalty, turning away from her and walking toward my liquor cabinet, pouring myself a neat whiskey.
