Chapter 7 The Wedding Will Go On

  • The Wedding Will Go On
  • "Abby Lane, 19 years old, is the adopted daughter of the Lane Family. She recently graduated from Achroite Film Academy. Her family does business. They have a small company, and she’s been dating the second son of the Stone Family since the first year of university until today. The woman who was supposed to be in Siegfried Royal Hotel that night was supposed to be another virgin. Miss Lane must have gotten in the way by mistake."
  • Before the 28th floor's French window, chief executive assistant, Joanna Harper, was reporting her findings.
  • The one she was reporting to was its president, Jeremy Hawkin, the only heir to the Hawkin Group.
  • Joanna looked at Jeremy's capricious expression before she hesitatingly added, "According to Miss Lane's call record and other investigations, her appearance at Siegfried Royal Hotel was due to her adoptive mother, who lied to her. She was going to be sold off to sleep with a director." There was a hint of pity in her voice.
  • The temperature around them seemingly dropped then.
  • The man who was sitting on the chair before her suddenly opened his eyes, his gaze terrifyingly cold.
  • As Joanna looked at Jeremy's dreadfully icy eyes, a chill ran down her spine, and she regretted speaking out of line.
  • A long while later, he replied, "Understood. You may go out now."
  • She thought she had heard it wrongly. Jeremy couldn't possibly only want information on Abby after he had so many investigations carried out regarding her.
  • However, Joanna was used to following her boss' orders. Without any hesitation, she bowed to him before going out.
  • After she had left, Jeremy stood up and went in front of the window. As he looked outside pensively, he frowned.
  • He was brought back to that night when that petite lady had to take all his pent-up lust. It was as if a pleasant dream, that experience was.
  • He let loose the beast within him on her. Not only that, he actually liked how it felt. However, right after he was done, she surprisingly and unhesitatingly ran away while he was asleep.
  • Not being in control was unprecedented for the aloof man. Even though he remembered the overwhelming excitement that night, he pushed down the urge to send anyone to search for her.
  • Little did he expect that with a simple embrace and a cry of surprise in the dark, the moment her soft body fell into his arms would trigger his memories of her. His body's desire for her was equally clear and pronounced.
  • However, she told him she had forgotten about that night.
  • The sneer on his face froze before it turned into an angry scowl.
  • A complex emotion appeared in his expression. It was as if he could still feel the warmth of her tears on his hand. A long while later, he sneered.
  • "You forgot, huh?" He turned around and looked down nonchalantly at the photo on the document.
  • The woman in the photo was innocent and beautiful. Her hair was flying around, while she was smiling sweetly at the camera.
  • Jeremy's expression tensed up and turned cold.
  • A moment later, he called a number through the landline.
  • "Bring Seraphine to Siegfried Royal Hotel in two hours."
  • He refused to believe that only that young woman could make him taste such ecstasy.
  • After hastily leaving the banquet, Abby hailed a ride to go back home alone. It wasn't until the next day that Mark texted her, saying that someone had taken him to a guest room as he was drunk last night.
  • Abby held the phone for a long while before she eventually answered, 'Mhm.'
  • When Mark received the message, he was soaking himself in the bathtub, frowning in frustration.
  • He did have sex with Cecilia last night.
  • However, thanks to that unexpected one-night stand, he found out that he felt no passion whatsoever for any woman who was not Abby. All he wanted was to find his release.
  • Even though Cecilia was leaning against him shyly, all he could think of was Abby. Her smile, her tears, and her sweet expressions…
  • Something stabbed his heart, and it pained him. After he played around with his phone for a while, he recovered all the deleted photos and stared at them for a long while. He texted her again.
  • "Abby, the wedding will go on."
  • Abby received a call from home the next day.
  • It was about Larry's return.
