Chapter 4
- Pei Shaoyu furrowed his eyebrows. He didn’t understand what this woman was thinking, and he didn’t know why she had such prejudice towards men younger than her.
- He Nian calmed herself down, “I’ll settle this matter myself. When we get back in there, don’t say a word. I’ll handle it myself. I won’t marry you, and I won’t give birth to this child. Nothing happened between us. Do you understand?”
- She turned around and got herself ready to face Pei Lihua.
- However, she was stopped yet again as Pei Shaoyu grabbed onto her wrist and pulled her towards him. “What do you mean by not giving birth to this child?” He questioned.
- This angered He Nian. She slipped out of his grasp and said, “What the hell do you want to do? Pei Shaoyu! You’re the one who took advantage of the situation. Now that I’m letting you off the hook, shouldn’t you be happy? I don’t want you to take responsibility for me or my child. When I said I’m not giving birth to this child, I mean I plan on getting an abortion. Do you get it now?”
- She reached into her bag hastily and pulled out a folded medical report. She then shoved it at him, “Look, this is what I mean. I’m letting you off the hook so get lost and get out of my way. I’m already tired enough as it is. I’ll finally be relieved of all this in the afternoon, and you’ll be a free man.”
- Pei Shaoyu inspected the report and sneered.
- Abortion?
- Now isn’t this great.
- Is she planning on aborting the child without my permission?
- Did I allow this?
- He Nian stared at Pei Shaoyu with an irritated look on her face. Because of her pregnancy, her body began to change faintly. As a result, she was even more emotional than usual. She made an appointment to abort the baby right after she found out she was pregnant yesterday. The appointment was set for later in the afternoon, yet she met the father of the baby today, of all days.
- He Nian was furious, “I’m done arguing with you. You just need to know that I don’t want you to take any responsibility, that’s all!”
- Seeing that she was about to leave again, Pei Shaoyu grabbed her. Without turning her head, He Nian let out an exasperated yell, “Little brat, stop making a fuss!”
- Pei Shaoyu creased his eyebrows and reiterated, “I’m not a little brat!”
- Deep folds appeared on her forehead as He Nian knitted her eyebrows in annoyance and met his gaze. In an attempt to calm down, she took a deep breath, “Fine. Kind sir, would you please let me leave now?”
- “No, that child is my child too,” Pei Shaoyu answered without hesitation.
- He Nian could no longer contain her anger and snapped, “What? Do you still want to take responsibility? Okay, then take it! I’m letting you take this responsibility!”
- Pei Shaoyu gawked at the woman in front of her.
- Before he could react, a smile formed on He Nian’s face, one that was full of mockery. “What? Are you afraid now?”
- Her voice was harsh, indicating that her patience was running out.
- At that moment, He Nian failed to remember that she had forgotten to take her birth control pills that night.
- “I’m running out of patience. I’ll overlook how rough you were that night and how you impregnate me, but if...”
- “What do you mean rough?” Pei Shaoyu interrupted with a frown, “It’s called being bold, alright?”
- Suddenly, the atmosphere felt lighter as He Nian chuckled. She was getting sidetracked by him, “Bold? Haha, you call something that small bold?”
- Pei Shaoyu creased his eyebrows, “Why not? Did you forget how you were all over me?”
- He Nian’s delicate face turned crimson red when she heard this.
- Even if she could make dirty jokes with him, she still felt embarrassed whenever it involved her.
- Pei Shaoyu was somewhat pleased when he saw her reaction. With his eyebrows quirked, he continued asking, “Am I wrong? I know you loved it. Besides, no matter how small you say I am, I got you pregnant, didn’t I?”
- The warmth from her flushed cheeks grew even hotter when she heard those words. However, He Nian’s apple red complexion appeared charming to Pei Shaoyu. She gritted her teeth and spoke, “So you’re determined on taking responsibility?”
- Pei Shaoyu responded calmly, “Of course I have to, this is my child.”
- He Nian stared at the man in front of her in disbelief, “Do you really know what taking responsibility means? It doesn’t just mean providing a home for the child. You have to shower the child with parental love and a loving family. That’s called taking responsibility. If giving birth to the child is called taking responsibility, then I’d rather not let the baby be born! What he needs is a father. You have a lot of responsibility to shoulder, including becoming the breadwinner of the family. Can you do it?”
