Chapter 13 Indifference

• He Nian became a little nervous when she saw Pei Shaoyu’s lustful gaze. She turned to the manager and asked, “When will the food be served? I’m quite hungry now.”
• Maybe it was because the manager and Pei Shaoyu were quite close, He Nian felt at ease around the manager.
• “It will be here soon. Just a moment, please,” the manager responded politely. He didn’t know what to call He Nian, so he avoided calling her entirely. He didn’t dare speculate either since Young Master Pei hadn’t spoken.
• Pei Shaoyu quickly returned to his senses. He frowned slightly, completely clueless of what came over him as he sat alone, depressed.
• Soon, the food was served. Pei Shaoyu didn’t say anything after inspecting the food. He Nian, on the other hand, grabbed her chopsticks and gobbled up the food as fast as she could. Her actions resembled those of a person who had been on an empty stomach for several days.
• Pei Shaoyu looked at He Nian with a gaze that seemed to say, “Did I starve you? Why are you eating so fast?”
• Nonetheless, He Nian paid him no heed. She continued enjoying the treatment of Hotel Royale, drinking bowl after bowl of soup, before finally slowing down to talk.
• “We need to be at the family mansion before eight o’clock tonight. If you don’t eat now, we might be late.”
• After she reminded him, Pei Shaoyu realized it was already seven o’clock.
• “What’s your job?” He Nian felt much better after filling her stomach. Pregnant women tended to get hungrier a lot faster, which led to He Nian disregarding her image in the presence of food.
• “Isn’t it a little too late to be asking this sort of question?” Pei Shaoyu answered with a distinctly upset tone.
• “Hmph,” He Nian snorted softly. This little brat is trying to get into my face! ”With all due respect, sir, I was just trying to lighten up the mood. I don’t actually care if you tell me or not.”
• Pei Shaoyu immediately sat upright and watched He Nian, who was happily enjoying her meal. The succulent shrimp dumplings looked terribly juicy when she bit into them, oozing out goodness. In short, the food looked heavenly, and she was really lucky to be able to eat at Hotel Royale. To have their first meal together at Hotel Royale only served as a reminder of her voracious appetite. Since he was provoked by He Nian, Pei Shaoyu just shut his mouth and let her get hung up on the question herself. He believed that her curiosity was going to get the better of her.
• “So you won’t tell me?” Sure enough, He Nian couldn’t contain her curiosity. This Young Master of the Pei family doesn’t even work in the Pei Corporation. What can he possibly do? I’ve never seen a rich kid survive on his own outside.
• A smirk slowly appeared on Pei Shaoyu’s face at the sight of her restlessness. Feeling smug, he lifted his chopsticks elegantly and started eating. His appearance usually captivated his female counterparts, but He Nian wasn’t impressed. Look at him, acting all high and mighty!
• “From what I see, you’re just ashamed of saying it out loud.” She took a sip of the soup, then wiped her mouth with a paper towel pretentiously. Did you think you were the only one who could act snobbish? ”Maybe you did something shameful to damage the Pei family’s reputation, that’s why you’re embarrassed about saying it out loud.”
• With his hands still holding the pair of chopsticks, Pei Shaoyu froze. Shameful? Does she think I’m a gigolo? She really is something! What a blabbermouth! But honestly speaking, she only talks like this when she’s with me.
• “He Nian, don’t think that just because you’re pregnant with my child, you can get away with everything!” Sometimes, he really couldn’t tolerate her. Can’t she just ask me properly if she wanted to know?
• Ah, the tiger is baring its fangs, He Nian quirked her eyebrows and thought to herself in amusement.
• “Kid, did you go to school? Ask everyone who heard what I said. Who would even interpret it the way you did?” Her tone was belligerent as she looked straight into his eyes, “Let me explain it to you before you think I’m ill-mannered. What I meant by shameful was that you might be smuggling drugs or selling firearms, stupid!”
• Right across her, Pei Shaoyu’s face was pale and unsightly. The manager, on the other hand, wanted to shrink himself to hide from the asphyxiating situation. Since when has a Young Master from the Pei family suffered from such humiliation? This woman must have gotten her boldness from God himself.
