Chapter 7

  • CHAPTER SEVEN
  • SARAH'S POV
  • "Auntie, please don't leave me alone. I'm scared." The little figure said, holding on to the tip of my dress as I was about switching off the lamp.
  • "I won't leave you, baby. I'm right here with you. You don't have to worry about anything." I assured him, caressing his brows.
  • "Okay mommy. I love you."
  • "I love you too, baby." I responded, trying to act like I didn't hear him calling me mommy.
  • I guess he never got the chance to see his mother or something. I wonder how a woman would leave her child all alone without being there for him. It's a good thing his father is there for him, so that makes the situation less pitiful for the little boy.
  • "Auntie, can you sing me a song?"
  • "Well, I know a few songs that will warm your heart."
  • "I want to hear one of them at once."
  • "You can only listen to one at a time."
  • "Okay. Please, sing one to me."
  • "My little angel... You make me happy when I'm sad..."
  • I didn't get far with the song when he fell asleep. I pulled the duvet covering his body before giving him a light kiss on his forehead.
  • "Sweet dreams, baby." I murmured and tried to switch off the lamp when the door was opened by my boss's personal assistant.
  • "Is he asleep already?" He inquired.
  • "Yeah, he just slept off not quite long."
  • "That's good. Please keep a close eye on him and make sure you lock the door once I leave."
  • "Okay sir but is everything alright?"
  • "We're under attack. Don't open the door for anyone no matter what, understood?"
  • "Yes sir." I nodded, shivering in fear.
  • "Also, you don't have to worry. We're gonna handle the situation." He assured me before leaving the room.
  • I rushed towards the door and locked it up before moving the standing table at the corner of the door towards the door.
  • I can't believe the mansion is under attack. I just hope the situation gets handled before it gets out of control.
  • I really can't imagine I signed in for this job. Will every day be like this in my life? What do I expect when the life of a mafia don is always filled with danger.
  • I walked over to the little figure's bed to make sure he was still sleeping.
  • JAYDEN'S POV
  • I made sure I wasted every bit of my bullets on their bodies before instructing my men to clean up the bodies before making my way inside the mansion.
  • "Henry!" I called out.
  • "Yes boss." He responded immediately, rushing towards me.
  • "Where is my son?"
  • "He's in his bedroom along with his nanny."
  • "Is he asleep?"
  • "Yes boss. I'm sure he didn't hear a sound."
  • "Clean my guns and take them back to my room."
  • "Okay boss." He answered, taking the guns from me before I head towards my son's room with my body covered in blood.
  • I got to the door and found it locked which made me knock on the door.
  • "Who's there?" I heard a whispering voice asked from the door.
  • "It's me. Open up." I stated and within two minutes the door was opened.
  • "I'm sorry sir. I didn't know it was you. Mr Henry had told me not to open up for anyone." She uttered, staring at the floor.
  • I ignored her and walked in to see my little champ sleeping soundly.
  • "How long has he been sleeping?"
  • "About thirty minutes but I'm not so sure." She replied.
  • "Get me a towel in the bathroom."
  • "Oh.. Okay sir." She answered and rushed towards the bathroom.
  • I can see my son is so happy today and it's all thanks to her. I guess I made the right choice by taking her for the job. Let's see how far she's going to go in taking care of my son and making him forget the absence of his mother.
  • "He.. Here is the towel, sir." She stammered, handing the towel to me at a long distance.
  • I'm sure she was frightened to see me all covered in blood but I care less because that's the man I am. I can't do without spilling someone's blood in one way or the other.
  • She might probably be thinking I'm a monster which I am and can't change the fact.
  • I took the towel from her and wiped off my hands and face with it before handing it back to her.
  • "You can head back to your room."
  • "Th... thank you sir." She said in a whisper before rushing out with the towel.
  • SARAH'S POV
  • I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw him covered in blood. Oh God! I can't stop thinking about that horrible sight of him.
  • I dropped off the towel in the laundry room before rushing off to my bedroom.
  • This is probably the worst day of my life. I can't believe he could be so inhuman. He killed those innocent souls like it was not a big deal to him.
  • I'm so scared to even spend another day in this mansion. I can't believe my dad got me into this mess and getting out will be an impossible assignment.
  • The moment I got to my room, I immediately locked up the door.
  • I brushed off the thought of seeing that scary reality before heading to the bathroom to take a cool shower and get some rest.
  • I just hope by tomorrow I won't have to think about what happened today.
  • I came out from the shower after a couple of minutes and heard a knock coming from my door which got me shivering with fear.
  • "Who... who is it?" I asked.
  • "It's Henry. Mr Russell asked me to pass a vital information across to you."
  • The moment he made mention of my boss's name, I felt cold chills run down my spine.
  • "I hope it's not something serious?" I inquired, heading towards my wardrobe to get a bathrobe.
  • "Yes, it's nothing serious, miss Sarah. Please, open up." He answered, which made me rush to the door and open it to see him holding an envelope.
  • "Mr Russell wants you to have this. He wants you to go through it. Also, he said you should forget what you saw today and make sure you don't disclose what you saw to anyone."
  • "Okay, I understand. Thank you." I replied, taking the envelope from him.
  • "Take care, miss Sarah."
  • "You too." I uttered, forcing a smile.
  • "One more thing, you might not understand what happened tonight but Mr Russell is really a good man." He stated and walked away leaving me with series of questions.
  • What did he really mean and why is he telling me that now? Should I really believe that the man who killed those men without any remorse is a good man but how?
  • Those are definitely questions I don't have an answer to and wouldn't want to know because the man in person is a mafia don.
