Chapter 6 Standing Up
- Kaitlyn flew into a rage after hearing his explanation.
- “That’s your problem, not mine. You can’t just refuse to pay me! I fulfilled the order on time, so you have to pay off the remaining amount! Otherwise, don’t blame me for bringing this matter to court. You won’t be able to continue the shoot if that happens!”
- The production assistant was stumped.
- “Miss, the investor of this series told us to pay half the amount. I can’t do anything about it, can I?”
- Jordan, who had remained silent all this time, spoke up abruptly, “Which company invested in your series?”
- “Flander Investment. Owned by Mr. Geoffrey Flander,” Morris answered.
- “Give him a call, and tell him to come here this instance!” Jordan remained calm as he instructed Morris.
- Without further delay, Morris nodded his head fervently and ran out to make the call.
- Although Kaitlyn might be upset, she didn’t take it out on Morris. But she was slightly surprised by Jordan’s help.
- Walking over to him, she said, “Mr. Hartman, thank you for your help. But this is between me and the production crew, so I can handle it myself.”
- Jordan was displeased upon hearing her words, and his expression turned icy.
- “Think of it as compensation for your kid’s injury yesterday. You shouldn’t refuse.”
- Usually, people would get on their knees to collaborate with me. This is the first time someone has ever rejected my offer!
- Upon hearing his words, Kaitlyn suddenly remembered he was Winter’s fiancé. Therefore, she shut her mouth instantly and said nothing.
- Right then, a Bentley came to a stop outside the shop.
- The door swung open, and a man in his late twenties alighted from it.
- The man was dressed frivolously in a pink suit, which grabbed the attention of many. The leather shoes he had on were sparkling new, and he was swaggering like a stuck-up rich brat.
- That man was none other than Geoffrey Flander.
- Upon spotting him, Morris rushed over and greeted him respectfully. “Mr. Flander, you’re here. We haven’t paid off the balance for this florist shop. It’s only a few thousand, so why don’t we settle it once and for all, then leave at once?”
- He presented his proposition to Geoffrey Flander in a jittery manner, yet keeping it clear-cut. His intention was obvious.
- At once, Kaitlyn spoke, “Mr. Flander, I have delivered the fresh flowers as requested. Not only that, but I even gave you a 20% discount, so please settle the balance now!”
- As soon as Geoffrey heard that, he snorted while side-eyeing her. “Excuse me, but who do you think you are? You should be grateful that I agreed to pay half the amount. A florist shop of this size, and you dare ask me to come all the way here?”
- Standing beside him, Morris grew increasingly anxious.
- Can’t Geoffrey see who’s here as well?
- However, Morris had no idea that Geoffrey was acting this way to please Winter.
- Actually, Geoffrey didn’t even know why Winter insisted on troubling this little florist shop, but since she had asked for his help, he was willing to oblige.
- On the other hand, Kaitlyn’s anger had heightened upon hearing his sarcasm, and frustration permeated her entire being.
- Geoffrey noticed her reaction and thought she was provoking him. Thus, he was irked, and with a sneer on his face, he said, “Well, well. What do we have here? What’s with that expression of yours, huh? Do you really think you’re all that? Hah! Let me show you what I’m made of!”
- As he said that, he raised his hand abruptly and made a gesture.
- At once, his four bodyguards dressed in black rushed into the shop.
- Not far away, Jordan’s brows arched as his gaze turned cold as ice.
- He turned to Kaitlyn, who was standing by his side, but she was already rushing over to them.
- “What are you doing? This is not a place for you to behave like a barbarian. You’re the one who’s in the wrong because you refused to pay! If you dare touch a single thing here, I’ll call the police!” she announced, utterly infuriated.
- A hint of amusement flashed across Jordan’s face.
- Hearing what she said, Geoffrey wasn’t afraid of her threat at all. He even gave her a little nudge on purpose and mocked, “Oops, sorry about that, but what are you going to do about it? Get ‘em, boys!”
- The four bodyguards were about to take action when someone spoke in a casual but oppressive manner, “Go on. I dare you to try and wreck this place.”
