Chapter 5 Buying Flowers
- The next day, an expensive Maybach pulled up in front of the florist shop.
- The rear door opened, and a pair of long legs appeared...
- The man was dressed in a custom-made black suit with his shirt buttoned all the way up meticulously. His broad shoulders and good built were perfectly showcased as he emanated a domineering presence.
- Jordan glanced at the little florist shop before he walked into it.
- It just so happened that Alex and Rachel were dashing down the stairs playfully.
- Rachel immediately spotted Jordan and exclaimed in delight, “Hey, it’s Uncle Handsome!”
- Jordan stopped in his tracks and turned in their direction.
- The next thing he knew, Rachel was already barreling towards him before flinging her arms around his long legs.
- Jordan instinctively grabbed her arm. “Be careful.”
- Just then, Rachel looked up at him and asked adorably, “Uncle Handsome, why are you here?”
- Looking at her irresistible chubby cheeks, he couldn’t help himself but pinch them slightly. “To buy some flowers.”
- At the same time, Kaitlyn had just walked out from behind her shop when she saw Rachel clinging onto Jordan’s leg.
- She immediately started nagging, “Alex, Rachel, go and play upstairs. Try not to disturb the customers, alright?”
- The two kids were disappointed upon hearing her order, but they listened to her obediently. Soon after that, Rachel released her grip on Jordan and said, “We need to go upstairs now. Bye, Uncle Handsome!”
- “Alright then, goodbye.” Jordan nodded and waved his hand at them.
- Watching them leaving, Jordan suddenly felt a deep sense of loss deep down.
- Why am I feeling this way toward the kids? He was confused.
- He was utterly puzzled when Kaitlyn’s apologetic voice rang out, “Sir, you know how playful kids are, so please don’t take it to heart.”
- “Don’t worry, I won’t.” Jordan replied.
- Glancing at him, Kaitlyn asked cautiously, “Is there anything you need?”
- Darren replied on his behalf. “Miss, the peonies you delivered last night were extremely effective. We are here today to ask if you have any left. If you do, we’ll take them all.”
- “Oh, I see. I do have some peonies left, but it’s not much. If you need them, I’ll wrap them up for you now.”
- Jordan nodded slightly. “Thank you.”
- When Jordan made his way to the waiting area at a corner, the doorbell rang again.
- Another customer had arrived at the shop.
- Kaitlyn then hurried out and shot an apologetic glance at Jordan. She glanced at the familiar customer - it was the production assistant of the TV series ‘The Love of My Life’.
- Greeting him warmly, she asked, “Mr. Morris, are you here to settle the final payment?”
- Even after the unpleasant encounter with Winter last night, she still clung to a tiny hope that the celebrity wouldn’t hold a grudge against her.
- However, Morris was frank. “I’m sorry, Miss. We can’t make the final payment for the roses you delivered last night.”
- Kaitlyn’s heart sank at once. “Why? The roses I delivered were all freshly plucked. Why won’t you pay the balance?”
- Right then, Morris seemed slightly awkward at her question. “I can’t help it. The props team didn’t have enough funds, so we have only managed to claim half the amount.”
- Kaitlyn was infuriated by his reply. “You’re a huge production crew. Don’t tell me you can’t afford to pay me? Did Winter Addison stop you from doing so?”
- Meanwhile, Jordan couldn’t help but furrow his brows upon hearing Winter’s name. He strode over and questioned, “What happened?”
- Morris turned, and his eyes narrowed in shock upon spotting the man.
- It’s Jordan Hartman! Why is he here?
- Without hesitation, he immediately responded, “Last night, Ms. Addison requested roses to shoot a bathing scene. Hence, I ordered some roses from this florist shop. But in the end, she threw a huge tantrum and refused to shoot the scene, so all the roses were wasted. This morning, I went to the props team, but they refused to let me claim the money. So it’s not that I don’t want to; I can’t help it either.”
- Jordan’s gaze darkened as displeasure flashed over his gaze.
- Well, well. Winter Addison, you pretended to be so demure in front of me, but turns out you’re a vile and nasty person!
