Chapter 7 She Does Not Have A Husband
- A man appeared between the flowers, his entire being emanating a chilly vibe. His presence was so strong that he could be someone as influential and dignified as the president.
- Instantly, Geoffrey’s eyes narrowed in disbelief. He strode forward and greeted the man respectfully. “Mr. Hartman, I didn’t expect to meet you here!”
- In reply, Jordan shot him an icy glance. “Mr. Flander, just who do you think you are?”
- The moment Geoffrey heard what Jordan said, his heart nearly fell out from his chest.
- He was facing the CEO of Hartman Group, the man who could determine the entire nation’s economy!
- And why is he here?
- Gah! If only I saw him just now... I wouldn’t have acted so arrogantly!
- Realizing that he would soon be in big trouble, he hurriedly put on an apologetic smile. “No, of course. Why would I disturb you out of nowhere? If I knew you were here, I wouldn’t even come here! This is all just a misunderstanding.”
- “A misunderstanding, huh? But why did I hear something else? I think it was something in the lines of - you, refusing to pay up?
- Geoffrey nodded profusely. “Yes, yes. It’s all a misunderstanding. I’m just about to pay off the remaining amount now.”
- After that, he reached into his pocket and took out his wallet.
- To everyone’s astonishment, Jordan suddenly added, “Oh, and one more thing - you have to compensate her for the mental distress you caused earlier.”
- At this point of time, Geoffrey dared not say anything further. Hence, he agreed quickly. “Yes, of course.”
- He took out a stack of bills from his wallet and handed them to Kaitlyn. “Here’s ten thousand in cash. Besides the outstanding payment, the rest is to cover your damage.”
- Startled and at a loss for words, Kaitlyn took the money from him before she glanced at Jordan curiously.
- She might’ve bumped into him a few times and knew he was someone influential. But since Geoffrey dared not offend him, he must surely be more powerful than Geoffrey.
- Although she was curious, she wasn’t about to inquire about his background. She then bowed politely to him and said, “Sir, thank you for your help.”
- “It’s nothing,” Jordan replied icily. He could still remember how she rejected his offer just now.
- However, he gave her the once-over and announced, “I love the quality of the flowers you’re selling. Can you supply me with the best varieties of flowers for the long term?”
- Kaitlyn was taken aback by his request. She recalled how he had helped her back then, and he didn’t seem to be someone unreasonable like Winter. Hence, she agreed to it.
- “Of course. Write your address here. I’ll deliver the flowers whenever you need them.”
- As Kaitlyn was no longer distant as before, Jordan was somehow delighted. Unconsciously, his voice also had more warmth now.
- “Okay. Darren will give you my address later. For the flowers I’ve ordered earlier, please deliver them to the hotel tonight.”
- “Sure, no problem,” Kaitlyn replied warmly.
- Right then, two crying kids appeared behind Kaitlyn all of a sudden.
- When Jordan and Kaitlyn turned in the direction of the noise, they realized the kids had been hiding in a corner under the stairs all this while.
- Furrowing his brows, Jordan thought, Did they see how uncivilized Geoffrey was just now?
- Just as he was still pondering, Kaitlyn had already rushed to her kids.
- “Alex, Rachel, when did you come down?”
- Alex was sobbing sorrowfully as he wrapped his arms around Kaitlyn.
- “Mommy, I’m sorry for being so useless. If I’m older, I can protect you from the bad guys!”
- Rachel added, “If we have Daddy, he can protect Mommy and us! I wish Bruce is here. He won’t let others bully us!” She wailed pitifully.
- Jordan was making his way over when he heard the kids’ words. He stopped in his tracks as he gripped the ring in his pocket instinctively.
- This woman... does not have a husband?
