Chapter 2 Apologize
- “Does it hurt?”
- Rachel blinked curiously at the man who was holding her.
- The man was clad in a tight-fitting black shirt which complimented his narrow waist and broad shoulders. His strong presence indicated he could be someone as influential as the president.
- He seemed like an intimidating person, but Rachel wasn’t afraid of him. She relaxed in his arms, feeling safe and secure.
- The moment everyone saw the man who had just picked up the little girl, their eyes widened in shock.
- The man was Jordan Hartman, and everyone knew who he was.
- He was the most influential and respected man in Boston.
- But why is he here today?
- Jordan might seem indifferent, but he was gentle when he held this little girl, whom he had just met today.
- On the other hand, Winter had no idea that Jordan would appear all of a sudden and even interfered in the matter. She quickly shot him a big smile and explained as she tried to tone down the issue, “Jordan, honey, what a pleasant surprise! My assistant was too clumsy, so she accidentally knocked down this little girl. But don’t you worry, because I was just about to send her to the hospital.”
- “My grandpa told me to come,” With the same poker face, Jordan replied in an indifferent tone.
- Winter’s smile froze. “It’s fine. I’m happy as long as you’re here.”
- Seeing this, Kaitlyn reached out and took Rachel back while shooting them a wary glance.
- “Thank you, Sir. It’s a minor wound, and she’s fine. All we want is an apology from her. That’s all.”
- For some reason, Jordan felt a bit annoyed when Rachel was removed from his arms. However, he glanced at Winter and uttered, “Yes, she’s right.”
- Noticing Jordan’s cold demeanor, Winter glared at Lexie and agreed, “Yes, of course, she needs to apologize.”
- Lexie was startled at the sudden turn of events, so she blurted out, “I-I’m really sorry. I didn’t do it on purpose.”
- When they heard her apology, a grin flitted across Alex’s face before he looked up at the good-looking man who had just helped them.
- A wave of emotion appeared in Jordan’s heart the moment their gazes met.
- However, their encounter was cut short because Kaitlyn had reached out, pulling Alex behind her.
- Kaitlyn stared at Jordan anxiously and spoke, “Sir, thank you for your help. I’ve already delivered the flowers, so we should probably leave now. Goodbye!”
- With that, she took the kids’ hands and left the set at once.
- Jordan gazed at their retreating figures as an inexplicable feeling overwhelmed his heart. There was no need for him to be here anymore, so he turned and headed for the exit.
- Right then, Winter immediately called out, “Jordan, where are you going?”
- But Jordan ignored her and continued on his way.
- When Kaitlyn finally arrived at her florist shop with her kids in tow, it was already seven in the evening.
- The kids enjoyed a simple dinner before Kaitlyn sent them to bed. She had just coaxed the two to sleep when her phone started ringing.
- “Hello, this is ‘Petals’. How may I help you?”
- A deep baritone voice sounded from the other end of the line. “I’m calling from Plaza Hotel. Please deliver a bouquet of freshly bloomed peonies with their roots intact here at once.”
- “Alright.”
- Around twenty minutes later, Kaitlyn arrived at Plaza Hotel.
- The hotel manager greeted her and brought her to the presidential suite on the top floor.
- “Once you entered the suite, refrain from saying any unnecessary words. Just do your job and don’t offend the guests, get it?” the hotel manager thoughtfully reminded Kaitlyn.
- Kaitlyn nodded. “Got it.”
- Those who could afford to stay here must be VIPs, so she wouldn’t do anything out of the ordinary.
- After that, Kaitlyn followed the hotel manager to the top floor. As soon as they reached the presidential suite, the door opened, and it was Darren Brocks. He glanced at Kaitlyn before giving way to her. “Come on in.”
- Kaitlyn nodded her head and went in with the bouquet of flowers in her hand.
- As soon as she entered, she saw a slender and tall figure sitting on the sofa.
- It was a man leaning casually against the sofa. There was a book in his hands as he read it intently.
- He had his gaze focused on the book this whole time. His face looked so perfect that it was almost... unreal. With that deep intense look from his stunningly bright eyes, he had a commanding presence that seemed to intimidate everyone before him.
- Kaitlyn gasped and was lost for words.
- Isn’t this the man with Winter Addison at the set today?
- What a surprise to see him here! She thought.
- Yet, the man didn’t even look up at her or noticed that she was there.
- In the end, Darren noticed her reaction and urged, “Miss, this way, please.”
- He then brought her into the bathroom.
- Following him, Kaitlyn was stunned as she questioned, “Sir, what do you want me to do?”
