Chapter 10 No Money

  • Previously, Dominic had heard from his colleagues that the boss was considering selling the company. Could the boss be Kenneth?
  • In the courier industry, although it currently seemed to be in a slump, Dominic had learned from a friend at the International Trade Administration that the government appeared to be promoting the listing of courier companies in the second half of the year. Once a company went public, the value of the courier company was bound to multiply several times over.
  • Previously, Dominic was penniless and had no means to invest. But now, Dominic had fifty million at his disposal. After all, his father had said that this was his pocket money, so it wouldn't hurt to try investing a bit.
  • “Mr. Wendt, wait a moment...”
  • With just one sentence, Dominic immediately drew everyone's attention toward him. Even Kenneth was taken aback. “What's this, young man? You're interested in my courier company?”
  • Sitting next to Dominic, Raelyn hastily tugged at Dominic's clothes, saying, “Dom, stop messing around! This is no joking matter!”
  • Dominic turned his head and gave Raelyn a slight smile. “Raelyn, I know my limits!”
  • “Dom, please stop it,” Raelyn pleaded, her brows furrowing involuntarily. “Mr. Wendt is truly upset about this matter. Don't add to his troubles!” She couldn't understand why Dominic was being so uncooperative.
  • Gently patting the back of Raelyn's hand, Dominic smiled and asked Kenneth, “Mr. Wendt, may I take a look at the contract?”
  • Kenneth and the other bosses present all turned their heads to look at Dominic. The latter was wearing a pair of faded jeans and a T-shirt that looked like it was bought from a street vendor. No matter how one looked at him, he just didn't seem like a wealthy man.
  • Previously, the reason why all the bosses warmly greeted Dominic was purely out of respect for Raelyn.
  • At that moment, everyone's eyes were fixed on Dominic, waiting to see Raelyn make a fool of herself.
  • After Dominic had flipped through a couple of pages of the contract, the boss across the table, Fred, spoke with a smile that didn't quite reach his eyes. “So, what do you think, Mr. Lloyd? Are you planning on buying Mr. Wendt's company? This would certainly be a feather in your cap and a great help to Mr. Wendt in solving his pressing problem!”
  • With a calm smile, Dominic closed the contract and responded, “No, I don't have any money!”
  • Upon hearing Dominic's words, all the bosses who had initially leaned forward immediately recoiled, slumping back into their chairs. Although they remained silent, their faces were all etched with expressions of mockery.
  • “No money and still talking big? Ms. Xenos, this boyfriend you've found is quite the comedian. I almost thought he was the living embodiment of a deity!” Fred said to Raelyn with a sarcastic tone.
  • Ian also chimed in, “Indeed, Mr. Lloyd, it's not so easy to get into Ms. Xenos' bed. There's a lot you need to learn!”
  • Everyone was ready to continue, but upon seeing Raelyn's gloomy face, they all promptly fell silent.
  • Raelyn felt a pang of regret in her heart. Wasn't Dominic usually a very honest and simple-minded young man? How could he be so clueless in such a situation? If she had known, she wouldn't have brought him along.
  • Just as Raelyn was about to pull Dominic away, the latter continued to speak with a smile. “I may not have money, but I know a classmate who is extremely wealthy! If I were to ask, he would certainly buy Mr. Wendt's company!”
  • “Dominic...” Raelyn's face was tinged with annoyance. “Haven't you had enough?” Raelyn gave Dominic a tug, signaling him to leave.
  • Fred stretched out his hand and rapped twice on the table. “Ms. Xenos, your boyfriend is quite interesting! Does he think he can call the shots with his classmate's money?”
  • Kenneth was unable to sell his company, which had already left him feeling quite downcast. The continuous actions of Dominic only added fuel to his inner frustration. “Mr. Lloyd,” he said, “there are some matters you simply can't joke about! Do you know how much stress this courier company has caused me? If anyone could help me sell this company today, I would call him my father!”
  • Before Raelyn could interject, Dominic glanced at Kenneth teasingly. “Are you serious about that?”
  • Dominic was now a tycoon worth fifty million. Originally, he had planned to directly use the money to buy the company. However, after some thought, he felt that such a move would be too ostentatious.
  • Therefore, he thought of a wealthy scion from his university named Richie Bank. Unlike Hugo, even though Richie came from a wealthy family, and Bank Corporation was a formidable rival to Langdon Group, Richie was always very considerate toward Dominic.
  • If I were to invest my own money and ask Richie to buy the company, then no one would suspect a thing!
  • Meanwhile, the bosses raised a brow.
  • Is Dominic trying to get himself into trouble again?
  • All the bosses watched with anticipation as Dominic and Kenneth interacted. Raelyn, standing to the side, was so anxious that she kept giving Dominic meaningful glances.
  • I had misjudged this Dominic. “Enough, Dom!”
  • However, under the instigation of the other bosses, Kenneth stood up. “Of course! I meant what I said. What do you say, Mr. Lloyd? As long as you can help me sell the company, all of us here will address you as our father. How about that? Buddies, any objections?”
  • The conversation had reached this point, and it was difficult for the bosses to refuse. “All right, then. Let's see if Mr. Lloyd's influence can persuade some fool to buy Mr. Wendt's company.”
  • With a slight smile, Dominic nodded at everyone. “Could you all wait a moment? I need to step out and make a phone call.”
  • After Dominic left, the private room suddenly became lively with all the bosses present.
  • “Ms. Xenos, your taste leaves much to be desired. You've chosen such a pretty boy who has no real skills except for boasting!” The reason why Fred held such animosity toward Dominic was because he had previously tried to woo Raelyn but had never succeeded.
  • Having seized the opportunity, it was only natural for him to take full advantage of it.
  • “Ms. Xenos, I don't mean to speak ill of you, but this young man is truly unreliable. If it's just for fun, then it's fine, but if you're considering a lifetime with him, it's better to give up sooner rather than later!” Kenneth's words were considerably more sincere.
  • Rubbing her throbbing head, Raelyn sighed. “Ah... Gentlemen, I'm sorry. I didn't realize the situation would be like this. Please excuse me for a moment...”
  • Having said that, Raelyn also left the private room, intending to find Dominic.
  • This fool... He has really embarrassed me...
