Chapter 5 Not Expensive At All

  • Finally winning a round, Hugo felt a certain degree of relief in his mood.
  • The words were clear as day. What does it matter how capable you are? Isn't the woman you love still lying in my bed?
  • As for Cassandra, Dominic had long since let go. Initially, Dominic still harbored some feelings for Cassandra, but given Cassandra's utter indifference toward him, Dominic felt no need to be polite anymore.
  • If you choose to be heartless, then don't blame me for being unjust!
  • “Hehe, Hugo, since you're so fond of second-hand goods, what's the harm in giving them to you, right? Isn't it, Cassandra?” Dominic's words carried a double meaning, implying, on one hand, that Cassandra was akin to second-hand goods.
  • On the other hand, it was also a provocation toward Cassandra. Back in the day, when Cassandra was with Dominic, she always claimed to be a virgin. At first, Dominic didn't understand, but later on, he came to realize that before him, Cassandra had been involved with another man.
  • Cassandra was no fool. After she heard Dominic's words, her face instantly turned ashen. “Dominic, what nonsense are you spouting?”
  • Hugo's face turned pale with anger. “Dominic, you'd better show some respect! So what if Cassy, such a beautiful girl, had a boyfriend? Can a pauper like you even afford to be with her?”
  • A twitch played at the corner of Dominic's mouth. “I just did the math,” he said, “Cassandra and I have been together for three years, and in that time, we've rented a room one hundred and twenty-three times. Each time, we used three different positions, making a total of three hundred and sixty-nine positions. The money I spent on her was roughly three thousand one hundred and fifty-six, which averages to about eight bucks and fifty-five cents per position. That amounts to just two cups of instant noodles. Is that expensive? I don't think so. Considering this, I can still afford it! I wonder how many cups of instant noodles did you spend, Mr. Campbell? Maybe you can enlighten me?”
  • Pfft!
  • Dominic's words directly caused an uproar among the surrounding guests and waitstaff...
  • D*mn it!
  • What on earth is all this mess?
  • Booked a room for one hundred and twenty-three times? Did three hundred and sixty-nine positions! Spent three thousand one hundred and fifty-six? He even remembers the numbers so clearly?
  • Some people, initially clueless, didn't react at first. But when everyone else caught on, they couldn't help but burst into laughter. Hats off to this person!
  • Cassandra and Hugo were seething with anger, practically thunderous on the spot, but they were helpless and didn't know how to refute Dominic.
  • “You... You've gone too far, Dominic!” Cassandra stomped her foot angrily, her face flushed red with frustration.
  • Hugo pointed at Dominic's nose and said, “You've got guts... just you wait!” As soon as he finished speaking, Hugo shook off Cassandra's arm and hurriedly walked toward the exit of the hotel.
  • “Dominic, you've really outdone yourself, making me lose face. Hmph! I'll make sure you lose your life!”
  • Hugo's family's influence in Sloummont was not to be underestimated. They had their hands in every pie, so to speak. If Hugo wanted to crush someone like Dominic, he had a hundred ways to do it. Just watch as I slowly toy with you to your demise!
  • When Hugo left, Dominic naturally didn't need to switch hotels anymore. “Hello, beautiful lady,” he asked, “How much is your best room per night?”
  • The cash in Dominic's bag had been clearly seen by the waitstaff just a moment ago. Despite Dominic being dressed in a courier's uniform, the receptionist showed no disdain. “Sir,” she asked, “our best presidential suite costs twenty-eight thousand eight hundred eighty-eight per night. Would you like to book a room?”
  • The attractive woman at the front desk respectfully rose from behind her computer, leaning over the table. The sight beneath her blouse was almost spilling out, her gaze burning with intensity.
  • Twenty-eight thousand eight hundred eighty-eight?
  • Isn't this too expensive?
  • Although Dominic had fifty million on his card now, he, who had been scared by poverty, still couldn't bear to spend so much money. “Forget it. Just get me a regular single room!” he said.
  • Although it was just a regular single room, it had cost Dominic a thousand, leaving Dominic feeling quite distressed.
  • As Dominic headed toward his room, Hugo and Cassandra, having left the hotel's main entrance, got into the car, still seething with anger. Cassandra, in her fury, tossed her bag onto the back seat, exclaiming, “I'm so mad. How infuriating...”
  • Hugo's face darkened, and with a backhand, he slapped Cassandra across her face. “You wretched woman! Shut your mouth! It's all because of you. If it wasn't for you attracting such a worthless piece of trash years ago, how could I have been so humiliated today?”
  • This was the Royal Pier Hotel, one of the top hotels in Sloummont. Everyone who came here was a person of significance in Sloummont.
  • Today, Hugo was thoroughly humiliated here, as Dominic had stated that he loved second-hand goods. It was inevitable that this incident would soon spread throughout the upper echelons of the entire Sloummont. The mere thought of this filled Hugo's heart with frustration.
  • Despite clearly having the upper hand, how did I end up being bitten by that dog, Dominic?
  • No, this situation must be rectified.
  • Cassandra was harshly slapped by Hugo. Although she was indignant inside, she dared not utter a word. “Hugo,” she said, “I had no idea he was that kind of person. Rest assured, you're the only one in my heart, the only one I care for... I promise to be devoted to you and only you, okay?”
  • Hugo scoffed. “Only me? Shut up. He was your first man, wasn't he? I'm tired of playing with second-hand goods! I'm not interested. Get lost!”
