Chapter 6
- Antonio stared wide-eyed at Julliet as he sat on the sofa. He knew that everyone in the room was intentionally doing her dirty. Even if she had a good alcohol tolerance, they'd deliberately made her drink a mixture of such strong liquors knowing well that it would make her stomach and spleen sting.
- While Antonio appeared uncomfortable and uneasy on behalf of Julliet, Camilla, on the other hand, looked victorious and as proud as a peacock.
- Antonio finally couldn't take it anymore when he saw another glass of liquor being prepared for Julliet. He reached out to grab it before it could be handed to the latter and downed it all in one gulp. He ignored the burn that went down his throat and into his stomach.
- "Antonio, what do you think you're doing?" Camilla frowned, "That was supposed to be for Julliet."
- Antonio shot her a glare and did not say anything in reply. He then walked over to where Julliet was draped across the sofa and pulled her up from it.
- "You're coming with me." he stated in a firm voice.
- Julliet felt herself being dragged out of the room by Antonio before she could even react.
- "Antonio, where are you taking me?"
- Antonio ignored her. He simply dragged her out all the way until they were out of the King Club. When he finally let go of her wrist, Julliet, who was quite dazed and disoriented from the amount of alcohol that she'd been made to consume, lost her balance and stumbled onto the ground.
- The cold surface of the hard ground shot through Julliet and woke her up slightly. She furrowed her brows as she looked up at Antonio in confusion.
- "Are you really going to continue living like this?" Antonio asked quietly, his voice laced with both disbelief and disappointment.
- Julliet was stunned. She hadn't expected Antonio to ask her such a question.
- "Since you like this kind of life so much, insisting on coming back even though you're being mocked and ridiculed from every corner, why did you hurt Veronica back then? You'd ruined both Veronica and yourself all because of Xaden. Was it really all worth it?"
- "Antonio. . . "
- Camilla, who'd been following them from behind, came over with a glass of wine in her hand. She felt her heart tighten at the sight before her.
- Antonio had liked Julliet so much that he had relentlessly pursued her, just like how she had relentlessly pursued Xaden back then. He probably would still be head over heels for her had the latter not hit his sister with her car.
- However, despite everything that had happened, Camilla feared that Antonio still had feelings for Julliet.
- She was debating whether or not she should pull Antonio away when a silver Ferrari pulled up at the door. Just then, a familiar voice sounded from behind Julliet.
- "What's going on? What are you lot doing here?"
- Julliet turned around to see Xaden stepping out of the car. His chauffeur immediately drove the car away as soon as the latter closed the door behind him.
- Xaden walked over to Julliet and raised a brow unkindly. "What is it? You've been here for half a month and you've still yet to learn how to properly welcome guests?"
- Julliet gritted her teeth as she hastily got up from where she'd been crumpled up on the floor. She bowed and greeted him respectfully, "Greetings, Mr. Devenport."
- Xaden did not say anything. Julliet did not get up and continued to bow before the former. She couldn't help but tremble and feel like throwing up due to how much she'd been made to drink.
- Xaden narrowed his eyes when he smelt the alcohol on Julliet.
- "You do know that you're not allowed to drink during working hours, right?"
- "I'm sorry, I..."
- Antonio couldn't help but frown at how pitiful Julliet looked, so he decided to step in. He stepped forward and greeted Xaden in a slightly surprised voice, "Ah, what a coincidence, I didn't think that I would run into you here."
- A coincidence?
- No one would've believed what Antonio said. After all, Xaden would never have bothered to set foot in a place like this even though he was the mastermind behind the establishment. Antonio must've heard that he would be coming beforehand.
- "I heard that you came from America not long ago. I didn't think that I would bump into you! After all, it's pretty rare to catch you here. Why are you here, hmm? Not in a good mood? Did one of your men hit a never?"
- Antonio then casually glanced at Julliet, "And you, like he said you've been here for half a month, you know. Didn't your manager teach you manners?"
- Julliet closed her eyes before walking towards Antonio. She bowed deeply before him as she said, "I'm sorry, Mr. Parker. I hope that you'll forgive me."
- Antonio did not say a word. He continued to look displeased.
- Xaden loosened his sleeves as he sneered, "Hmm, it seems like you have no intention to accept her apology. Alright, tell you what. Why don't I make her kneel here before you until your anger has dissipated? Only then will I allow her to stand up again..."
- Julliet bit her lips as her eyes went slightly red. She couldn't believe how cold and ruthless Xaden would be towards her. He seemed to derive joy from tormenting and making things difficult for her.
