• "Tsk, what an eyesore," Ruth whispered.
• Ruth’s eyes met Ella’s, and a wave of irritation went through her. Ruth rolled her eyes in response. Somewhat surprised Ella, her eyebrows went up. Ella was in the middle between Reid and Miguel. The staff, who were lined up at the far end of the hallway, quickly brought the food to the table as they walked in.
• “Hey, we’re always waiting for you to join us at every meal, but you always show up late. Could you please hurry up and make sure you’re here on time? We’re all getting pretty hungry here, and it’s important to remember that everyone’s important, not just the two of you.” Ruth sounded irritated.
