Chapter 8 Someone You Know

• No one was surprised. Instead, they were all shocked.
• Except for Alvin. He glanced at her calmly before returning to reading his notes.
• Reg choked on his tea and wet himself.
• Cole forcefully pulled his arm out of Sandra's grasp. "What are you doing here?"
• Aileen grinned at him, "I just wanted to let you know that my mother's surgery was successful, and thank you for introducing us to Dr. Fauci. I was going to treat you to lunch, but it seems you already have lunch prepared. I'll get out of your way then. Goodbye."
• "No, wait a minute."
• Cole grabbed her arm, "There's been a misunderstanding. Sandra's baby is not mine. It has nothing to do with me."
• Sandra's face turned pale with anger. Her eyes shot sparks at him, but she hesitated to contradict Cole. "Yes, it's not his." She reluctantly agreed.
• Aileen chuckled and shook off his hand. Turning to Sandra, she said, "Oh, is that so? Well, congratulations to whoever the father is. But it doesn't matter, even if it is Cole's. We've broken up."
• She spoke calmly and loudly so everyone could hear that she had officially ended her relationship with Cole.
• As if realizing something, Cole's eyes hardened. He pulled out the card from his pocket. "You came looking for this, didn't you?"
• Alvin's grip tightened around his papers.
• Sandra stared at the key. It looked familiar, but she couldn't remember where she had seen it before.
• Aileen glanced at Alvin. Seeing how composed he was, it seemed this wouldn't affect him in any way.
• She didn't want to continue this conversation. "I wish both of you a long and happy relationship."
• She turned on her heel and left.
• But Cole wasn't about to let it go so easily.
• Sandra suddenly remembered where she had seen the card. Her eyes widened as she turned to Alvin, "Isn't this your key?"
• She recalled a time when she borrowed his ID. She saw the key card while Alvin was searching for his hospital ID.
• She knew Alvin had a reserved room there. The key's design was different from other room keys because it was for a premium suite.
• "Dr. Kain, you…"
• Alvin closed the file and took a sip of water. He stared at her, "Yes?"
• His tone was cold and menacing.
• Sandra didn't dare say another word. She was shocked and had trouble comprehending this new development.
• Aileen reached the elevator. Furious, Cole cursed at her, "You wretch! Were you worried about your room key? Did you think I would ruin your secret meeting? Or did you think I would attack your lover?"
• Aileen spun around and slapped him across the face. "Watch your language! I've been faithful to you for the three years we've been together. You cheated on me first!"
• Cole was stunned. Aileen had always been gentle and understanding. This was the first time he had seen her this angry.
• Aileen growled at him. "You're about to become a father, so please stop bothering me. I despise cheaters. If you continue to harass me, I'll ruin your reputation!"
• The elevator doors opened, and Aileen stepped in.
• Only to be pulled out by Cole. He dragged her away from the elevator and into a corridor. Pressing her against the wall, he pointed a finger in her face. "Just you wait. I'm going to find out who this man is and expose him! I want to see the person you're sleeping with and if he's worth losing me over!"
• Aileen chuckled. She grabbed his collar and brought him down to eye level. "Here's a hint. He's someone you know."
