Chapter 28

• Michael excused himself from the bedroom to give Valerie privacy to change. He made his way to the dining room and had just settled in with a cup of coffee when Valerie joined him. Michael felt his breath catch slightly as he took in her appearance. She was wearing a form-fitting dress that hugged her curves in all the right ways, accentuating her lithe figure and natural beauty.
• "Careful, Mrs. Donovan," Michael said with an appreciative gleam in his eye. "If you walk around looking like that, I might have to keep you indoors where only I can admire the view."
• Valerie rolled her eyes, seemingly unfazed by his overt flirtation. "As tempting as that sounds," she replied dryly, "I actually have plans to go see my grandfather's lawyer today about claiming my inheritance."
