Chapter 7 Things Gone Wrong

  • Noelle's POV:
  • A sinking feeling settled in my stomach as I followed them from a distance. I was desperate to find out what they were doing in Room 606.
  • Fortunately, there were plenty of people around the hotel at this time, and Skyvale didn't notice me slipping by.
  • I let my wolf take control of my hearing, listening in on Skyvale's conversation with the hotel owner.
  • "Where's the person who stayed in this room?" Skyvale asked the moment he stepped into Room 606.
  • The hotel owner replied respectfully, "Mr. Skyvale, the guest in this room has already checked out and left."
  • "Who was she? Where is she now?" Skyvale sounded anxious.
  • The hotel owner hesitated. "Mr. Skyvale, you know our hotel's policy. As long as guests pay in full, they don't need to register or be monitored. We have no information about them, and even if we did, we must maintain confidentiality—"
  • "Stop feeding me excuses!" Skyvale cut him off sharply. "I only want to know who the woman from Room 606 was. She saved the life of our Alpha King. I must find her!"
  • I was stunned upon hearing that.
  • The person in Room 606 last night was Naomi. There was no way she could have possibly saved Alpha King Yael.
  • Wasn't she with a lowly Rogue last night?
  • I was so shocked that I didn't even notice when Skyvale walked past me.
  • By the time I regained my senses, he was already on the phone, speaking respectfully. The person on the other end had to be the Alpha King.
  • I didn't dare get too close, but I could catch fragments of words like "heat," "future Luna," and "we'll find her."
  • Though I couldn't make out the entire conversation, I could confirm that Naomi hadn't been with a Rogue last night. She had been with Alpha King Yael!
  • I didn't know how things had gone so wrong, but Naomi had somehow become Yael's savior—and worse, they had mated!
  • Now, Alpha King Yael had sent his Beta, Skyvale, to find Naomi to repay her and possibly even make her his mate!
  • No. This couldn't happen.
  • How could someone like Naomi, a useless waste without a wolf, be worthy of a king like Yael and become his mate?
  • Jealousy burned inside me, and my first instinct was clear. I couldn't let Yael find Naomi.
  • Naomi deserved nothing more than to rot in the mud with that filthy Rogue.
  • Naomi's POV:
  • In just one day, my world had crumbled around me.
  • My father sold me off and then banished me from the pack. The sister I trusted most had betrayed me, trapping me in a deadly scheme. She even wanted to kill me!
  • I didn't know how I managed to leave the hotel, or where I was even going. I wandered aimlessly along the streets.
  • Tears streamed down my face uncontrollably, but no amount of crying could fill the hollow emptiness inside me.
  • As the sky darkened, and I felt myself on the verge of collapsing from exhaustion, a soft yet gentle voice whispered, "Naomi, don't cry. I've always been by your side ... "
  • I looked around in panic. Only then did I realize I had somehow wandered into a dense forest?
  • Yet, aside from the rustling of leaves, I couldn't see a single soul.
  • "Who's there? Show yourself!" I called out.
  • The soft female voice returned, echoing in my mind. "Hello, Naomi. It's nice to finally meet you. I'm your wolf, Daphne."
  • I whispered back in shock, "Daphne? You're my wolf?"
  • "Yes," she said gently in an apologetic tone. "I'm sorry it took me so long to find you. For certain reasons, I've been locked away and unable to reach you. It wasn't my choice to arrive so late."
  • "Locked away?" I was overjoyed and curious at the same time.
  • I finally had my wolf.
  • The Moon Goddess hadn't abandoned me. I wasn't the outcast I had thought I was.
  • I was confused because I had never heard of a wolf being imprisoned before.
  • "You'll understand in time," Daphne replied, clearly avoiding the topic. After a brief pause, she continued, "For now, you need to find a safe place before nightfall. I'm still very weak, and I can't stay for long. There are more Rogues in this forest than just you, and it's dangerous especially when you're pregnant."
  • "Pregnant?" I blurted out, feeling confused. "What are you talking about? I had only been intimate with a stranger last night."
  • Daphne's voice remained soft and soothing. "I know it's hard to believe, but you're pregnant, Naomi. The Moon Goddess has blessed you with a child."
  • Before I could wrap my mind around the idea, my sharpened senses picked up the faint sound of movement a few miles away.
  • Someone was approaching.
  • "Naomi, there's no time to hesitate. You need to leave the forest, now," Daphne urged.
  • Swallowing my confusion and fear, I forced myself to pick up the pace and fled the forest as quickly as I could.
