Chapter 6 A Stranger I Despised
- Noelle's POV:
- After Eliza's daughter was born, my father spent most of his time with them, and my place in the family became more awkward.
- One day, I overheard him telling Eliza that if their child showed more promise than I did, she would become the first in line to inherit the Bluemoon Pack Alpha position.
- The Northcutts' wealth would also go to Eliza and her daughter.
- But why?
- I had been groomed to be the pack's future leader since I was young. Why should everything be handed over to the woman who ruined our family?
- Even if my mother and Naomi no longer wanted me, I was determined to take back everything that was rightfully mine!
- To secure my place as the Alpha heir, and to avoid being abandoned by my father, I didn't allow myself a moment of rest. Every second of my day was either spent studying or on my way to training.
- Whenever I felt like giving up, I would think of my mother and Naomi who had left me behind, and I'd push through the pain.
- I successfully awakened my wolf when I turned 14. My father's attention, which had been fixed on my sister, shifted back to me.
- He even started bringing me to high-level pack meetings.
- I knew my hard work was paying off. If nothing unexpected happened, I was still the first in line to be his heir.
- I could do just fine without my mother and Naomi.
- However, just when I had gotten used to life without them, Naomi—who had been gone for years—suddenly returned.
- She grabbed my hands with excitement, telling me how much she had missed me.
- She said our mother had passed away, and that on her deathbed, her final wish had been to see me one last time, but she couldn't reach me.
- It was such a joke to hear that.
- She never thought of me when she left and she suddenly remembered me when she was dying.
- Naomi should be grateful that she didn't reach me; otherwise, I might have strangled the mother who abandoned me with my own hands!
- As for Naomi, the moment she left with our mother, she ceased being my sister.
- Now, she was nothing more than a stranger to me.
- A stranger I despised.
- Sixteen years old and still without her wolf, Naomi was the same useless person she'd always been.
- After spending years living with our mother in a small pack, she reeked of poverty. I didn't want to share the same roof with her.
- Luckily, I was busy attending training schools and hardly went home.
- This also limited my contact with her, sparing me from her annoying attempts to rekindle our sisterly bond.
- I watched as she became an outsider in the Northcutts' house, resented by our Alpha father and rejected by our Luna stepmother. Seeing her struggle brought me a certain satisfaction because I had gone through the same thing for years.
- I knew she had no money, that she had to work odd jobs to pay for her school fees and living expenses. I knew how the pack members mocked and bullied her.
- Maybe if she had thought of me when she left, I would've been willing to help her out, out of sisterly pity.
- But she didn't.
- So now, she would face every hardship a weakling as she deserved.
- Two years passed and Naomi was still without her wolf. She was still a useless waste of space, while I was already learning how to manage pack affairs alongside my father.
- To strengthen the Bluemoon Pack, my father decided to form an alliance with the neighboring Snowmoon Pack. He planned to marry Naomi off to Snowmoon's Beta, Joshua, so he could use the connection to solidify the alliance.
- When I heard the news, I instinctively frowned.
- Joshua didn't have a great reputation, but he was still the Beta of a large pack, powerful and influential.
- How could Naomi, a wolf-less waste, ever be worthy of him?
- What if she somehow charmed Joshua and tried to challenge me for the position of Alpha heir, or worse, the Northcutts' inheritance?
- I couldn't allow Naomi any chance of rising up. She belonged with the Rogues, with the filth of the world!
- Suddenly, an idea came to me.
- If she got involved with a Rogue, Joshua would never want her. My father might even be so furious that he'd banish her from the pack, and I would never have to see her pathetic face again!
- I wasted no time putting my plan into action. I booked a room at Eclipse Hotel, setting it up with a repulsive Rogue.
- Then, I found Naomi, who was desperate to escape her arranged marriage, and suggested she hide at the hotel.
- Naomi, the fool, didn't suspect a thing and even thanked me endlessly.
- It took everything in me to keep from laughing right in her face.
- Just as I had planned, Naomi spent the night with the Rogue. She was no longer a virgin, and Joshua rejected her instantly.
- The alliance between Bluemoon Pack and Snowmoon Pack collapsed.
- My father was furious. He slapped Naomi hard across the face and expelled her from the Bluemoon Pack.
- When I revealed the truth to her, it brought me a satisfaction I had never known while I watched her face crumble in disbelief.
- I didn't know why she had the nerve to ask me why I had done this to her. She said she was my sister.
- She shouldn't have said that. The moment she mentioned that, all the memories of how she and our mother had abandoned me came flooding back. I recalled how I had clawed my way through the Northcutts on my own to get where I was today.
- I couldn't control my hatred any longer. Summoning my wolf, I let its power crash over her.
- "Get out of my sight now! Or else, I won't hesitate to kill a filthy Rogue like you!"
- Not killing her was the biggest mercy I could offer.
- I swore, if she said even one more word, I would have my wolf rip out her throat.
- Naomi, clearly terrified, looked at me in disbelief before walking away, heartbroken.
- She didn't have the right to feel heartbroken. Everything she suffered was what she owed me!
- After she left, I carefully checked the hotel room to ensure there was no trace of the Rogue I had hired.
- I couldn't risk my father finding out that I had orchestrated Naomi's downfall, causing her to lose her place as Joshua's mate and destroying the alliance between Bluemoon Pack and Snowmoon Pack.
- As I stepped out of the hotel, however, I encountered an unexpected visitor—Skyvale, the Beta of Alpha King Yael.
- Yael Blackwell was the most powerful and prestigious Alpha King on the North Merstone Continent. Every werewolf knew him.
- At 25, he was still without a fated mate, and every unmated she-wolf on the continent dreamed of being the one.
- I had seen him once from a distance, at a pack meeting with my father.
- Just one glance had left me in awe of his presence. A werewolf like him was someone I could only admire from afar; he was forever out of my reach.
- That day, I also caught sight of his Beta, Skyvale, which was why I recognized him now.
- I wondered why someone like him was in a place like this.
- I instinctively paused to observe.
- The hotel owner, having received word of Skyvale's arrival, hurriedly came out to greet him.
- I heard Skyvale's commanding voice. "Take me to Room 606 immediately."
- I froze in shock.
- Room 606 was the room I had booked for Naomi. Why was he going there?
