Chapter 2 Shouldn't You Explain?
- The crowd immediately erupted into chatter. They hadn't expected to see Tony at this banquet, let alone see him standing next to Myra, expressing his belief in her.
- Myra didn't know Tony, but she knew this man who had saved her once again came to her rescue. She gave him a faint smile, although it appeared very pale.
- Sean and Eris' expressions turned extremely ugly. Sean couldn't fathom when Myra had managed to entice Tony and thought Myra had cheated on him. How dare she be associated with another man, especially when he's Tony Hart of the Heart Group?!
- A wave of immense humiliation washed over Sean. He had forgotten his purpose for standing before Myra; he just glared fiercely at her and Tony.
- "Well, it seems we've misunderstood Miss Stark." Sean didn't dare to confront Tony in public. At that, he promptly left with Eris.
- Myra discreetly wiped away the tears at the corner of her eyes, raising her hand to her eyes. Her gaze shifted towards the main entrance of the banquet hall.
- She saw Sean's tall and elegant figure, gently holding Eris in his arms, kissing her forehead tenderly. Without guessing, Myra could imagine the tender expression on Sean's face at that moment.
- "You shouldn't shed tears for a man who doesn't love you," Tony said as he took a towel handed over by his assistant. He handed the towel to Myra, saying softly, "Wipe your tears. You look like a homeless puppy."
- "Thank you."
- The onlookers hadn't dispersed yet; they were all speculating about the relationship between Myra and Tony.
- Tony left the scene. He hated being gawked at, feeling like a circus clown being watched. He took advantage of Myra's distraction and cast a cold glance over the people present. They had never seen such a terrifying look before. It was as if one more word or one more glance would mean certain death from the CEO of the Hart Group.
- The surrounding people soon dispersed, leaving Myra alone in place. A gust of cold wind blew, causing Myra to shiver uncontrollably. She couldn't help but sneeze.
- The man who had already taken off returned and draped his clean suit over Myra. "Take it."
- He frowned, looking as if he was about to get angry. Myra felt a bit scared and a bit puzzled. This guy can do a one-eighty in lightning speed.
- Myra instinctively tried to refuse, but the man didn't allow her to reject him and simply left.
- On the way home, she suddenly remembered why the crowd had been in an uproar earlier —the person who saved her was the CEO of the Hart Group. However, she had heard rumors that the CEO of Hart Group wasn't as kind as he appeared, that he wouldn't bother to save a stranger. But in reality, he did save me. Perhaps I shouldn't believe in rumors. Maybe this young CEO is kind.
- Realizing her husband was even less kind to her than a stranger, Myra clenched her fists tightly, her knuckles turning white.
- …
- Myra hailed a taxi and returned to the Chase Residence. The housekeeper, Greta Rosenburg, greeted her and then looked at Myra with some surprise. "Oh my, Mrs. Hart, why are you all wet? I'll prepare a bath for you."
- Myra nodded, her gaze falling on a pair of black leather shoes in the foyer.
- Greta followed Myra's gaze to the black shoes, her expression tinged with concern. "Mr. Hart just came back, and he looks pretty grim. He asked you to go to his study as soon as you returned."
- Myra glanced at Greta's face, feeling her throat dry. Sometimes, she felt she should end this terrible marriage sooner, but she couldn't act impulsively…
- Myra nodded and went upstairs. She hesitated outside Sean's study before closing her eyes and walking past.
- After taking a quick shower, Myra chose a light blue dress with a red rose embroidered only on the left side of the waist.
- Just now Greta discreetly told her that Sean bought a large bouquet of red roses today and put them at the study room. Myra frowned. It was her birthday that day. However, she didn't think Sean would get her anything. Instead, the flowers were most likely meant for his mistress.
- Before she could knock, the door to the study opened.
- Sean stood expressionless in the doorway of the study. "Shouldn't you explain?"
- Myra was taken aback, unsure of what to explain. "I told you, I didn't push Eris. She came and talked to me, and we were just—"
- "Who the f*ck wants to hear that?!" Sean's eyes blazed with anger. "When did you start hooking up with Tony Hart?!"
