Chapter 1 I Believe Her

  • In the backyard of the Alegria, the reigning star Eris Keller intercepted Myra Stark.
  • "You're Sean's wife, aren't you?" Eris scrutinized Myra, her eyes filled with disdain. "You, a woman with such a wicked heart! You're not worthy of being Sean's wife at all. You're absolutely disgusting."
  • Myra felt a sharp pain in her heart. Ever since she married Sean Chase, his mistresses always found ways to track her down and shame her. Their insults were all alike, accusing her of being "wicked," "using any means to marry him," and even calling her a "wh*re."
  • "So? Are you going to say that a wh*re like me should just divorce him and leave the Chase Family?" Myra was grateful she had put on makeup for the night's banquet. Otherwise, Eris would have seen how pale she was.
  • Myra straightened up, locking eyes with Eris. But before she could speak, Eris’ face suddenly changed. Her arrogant demeanor shifted to one of vulnerability and innocence. "I didn't mean to interfere in your marriage. I just… I think if you don't love each other, you should—ah! Help!" she screamed.
  • Two loud splashes echoed as Eris grabbed Myra's arm tightly. Myra quickly realized the woman was crazy and couldn't believe she pulled her into the large pool.
  • Eris thrashed about in the water, screaming for help. Myra had intended to swim to shore herself, but she hadn't anticipated Eris' frantic attempts to push her deeper into the pool.
  • Madwoman! This madwoman wants to drown me in this pool! A wave of immense fear washed over her. If Eris continued to entangle her, she wouldn't have the strength to swim to safety.
  • In her panic, she saw her husband, Sean, jumping into the water only to rescue his mistress to shore. Suddenly, all her strength was gone, and Myra gradually sank. Somebody, please… save me. I don't want to die in this icy pool…
  • Just as Myra began to lose consciousness, she felt someone forcefully pulling her upward. Then, a rush of fresh air filled her lungs, and she coughed violently.
  • It was too dark, so she couldn't see who had saved her.
  • "Are you okay?"
  • Once on shore, the person who had rescued her spoke with a rich, magnetic, and sexy voice, bringing Myra back from a terrifying void to reality. Her eyes focused, noticing the man soaked from head to toe, with water droplets falling from his hair to the ground and some trickling down his face to his chest.
  • "Th-thank… Cough… thank you," Myra couldn't help but cough, feeling as if the water forced into her lungs had pierced them like a sharp blade. The intense coughing made her lungs ache relentlessly.
  • "Myra! I can't believe you're so malicious as to publicly push someone into the water!" Sean embraced the trembling Eris as they approached Myra, his angry demeanor making it seem like he could swallow her whole. "Eris can't swim at all! If I had arrived a moment later, you would have become a murderer!"
  • Her husband's furious reprimand completely brought her back to reality. Myra suddenly realized that Eris' rapid change in expression earlier was because she had seen Sean.
  • Eris had staged a scene in front of Sean, all to frame Myra. Now, not only did Sean believe Myra was malicious, but everyone at the banquet was also casting accusing glances at her.
  • Myra stood stiffly and soaking wet by the edge of the pool, her elegant blue knee-length dress clinging to her, looking utterly disheveled.
  • "Oh, my goodness, I never thought there could be such a malicious person!" Spectators exclaimed.
  • "You don't know, do you? She tried to seduce the CEO in the office, but the CEO only has eyes for Eris," said another person, who happened to be Myra's colleague.
  • "That's right. Don't be fooled by her usual cold demeanor. For all we know, she would go as far as giving the CEO a blowjob under his desk just to win him over."
  • The fact that she was Sean's wife was known to very few people. In the eyes of everyone, Myra was just an ordinary employee of the Chase Group. But now, Myra had become someone who was trying to seduce the CEO and kill his girlfriend.
  • Myra clenched her fists tightly, looking Sean squarely in the eye. "I didn't push her," she said smoothly, feeling a slight pain in her throat as she spoke.
  • "Sean, it's not Miss Stark's fault. I was careless…" Eris’ pitiful appearance successfully elicited sympathy from everyone, further convincing them that the unchanged expression on Myra's face indicated she was the one who pushed Eris into the water.
  • Myra trembled all over. She knew that if these people tonight were convinced that she pushed Eris, her future would become even more difficult.
  • Eris was a big star with countless fans. Once her fervent fans sought revenge for her, Myra could very well plunge into the depths of hell. Even her colleagues at the company would find ways to get rid of her.
  • A strong sense of suffocation swept over her as if countless hands were squeezing her throat mercilessly, making her desperately want to escape this dreadful place.
  • "I believe this lady didn't push anyone." The man who had rescued Myra stepped forward and spoke for her.
  • It was then that everyone noticed the man standing in the dark corner all along was Tony Hart, the CEO of the Hart Group.
