Chapter 6 On Your Knees!

• The people in the opulent front hall were gathered in small groups of twos or threes and chatting softly. Waiters went about the hall offering refreshments on trays.
• Nix scanned the front hall but did not see Kenn, Howard, or anyone from the Zweiger family. He could hear some movement on the second floor, so he guessed they must be entertaining an important guest upstairs. He was not in a hurry anyway, so he took a glass of champagne and began to sip from it.
• Isaac and his companions stood some distance behind Nix, and their gazes never left him.
• Suddenly, one of Isaac's companions exclaimed, "Wow, isn't that Ashley Chatham?"
• Isaac and the others turned their heads. They saw that the person in question was indeed Ashley Chatham, a female actress who had just begun to be popular.
• "She's prettier than she is on the screen. Look at those long legs. Whew!" Isaac exclaimed.
• The other male companion said, "Why don't you go ahead and try your luck, Isaac? She might have a crush on you, and that'll be your big break!"
• Isaac was interested, but he knew the limits of his capabilities. He shook his head and said, "Not only she's a celebrity, but she's also born into a wealthy family. She's not going to bother with normal people like us."
• As he spoke, Ashley abruptly changed direction and walked toward Isaac.
• "D*mn, Isaac! She has her eyes on you! This is your chance!" the male companion said excitedly.
• Isaac became nervous. He began to brainstorm some pickup lines he could use when Ashley initiated a conversation with him.
• However, the female celebrity stopped next to Nix and took his arm.
• "What?" Isaac and his companions were stunned.
• What the heck? How could she… I mean, how dare that useless loser gain Ashley's attention?
• To everyone's surprise, Nix shoved Ashley's arm away disgustedly.
• Isaac nearly blew his top.
• "What are you doing? I'm not going to eat you up!" Ashley shot an angry glare at Nix and hugged his arm again. "Conan Zweiger is trying to flirt with me. Help me for a bit and drive him away. He's so annoying. Don't push me away this time, alright? I'll be angry if you do."
• "Sorry, I don't know you," Nix said coldly and shoved Ashley away again.
• "How dare you!" Ashley said furiously.
• Not only was she a wealthy socialite, but she was also a famous celebrity! She could tell there was something extraordinary about Nix's demeanor, which was why she had chosen him.
• Nix should have been honored to be chosen among so many other men. Not only was he not starstruck, but he had shoved her away twice!
• "Who do you think you are? You'd better appreciate the chance I'm giving you to be close to me. I'll give you three seconds to hold my arm. Otherwise, you'll regret it! Three! Two! One!"
• Nix remained unmoved after the countdown was done. Ashley gritted her teeth and threw a slap at Nix's face.
• Her hand was caught midair by Anvil.
• "What… What are you trying to do? Let me go! It hurts!" Ashley cried out fearfully to Anvil.
• The commotion soon caught the attention of the people around them. A well-dressed young man ran over. "What's going on, Ashley? You! Let go of her, now!"
• Ashley said angrily, "I was trying to strike up a chat with that guy, but he ignored me and even asked this guy to beat me up! Find someone to avenge me!"
• The young man's face sank when he heard what Ashley said. He pointed at Nix and said, "Wow, Ashley is trying to strike up a conversation with you, but you ignored her? You should be honored to be so lucky! Tell your subordinate to remove his filthy hand now! Then, fall to your knees and apologize to Ashley until she's satisfied! Otherwise, I'll make sure you leave this place in a bodybag!"
• Nix smirked. "You must be Conan Zweiger, Kenn's younger brother."
• "That's me! If you want to live, you'd better get on your knees now!" Conan said arrogantly.
• Isaac chuckled gleefully as he watched the scene unfold.
• Serves you right for being so arrogant! You've bitten off more than you can chew now!
• Meanwhile, Whitney and Tony were walking down from the second floor. They also noticed the commotion in the front hall.
• "Whitney! Just as you expected, that guy is here for revenge. Haha! I wonder how he'll die today! It's your engagement party and his death day today. This is double the good news!" Tony said.
• Whitney sipped from her champagne glass but said nothing. She wanted to see what Nix would do.
• Nix waved his hand and said to Anvil, "Let her go."
• Conan smirked. "That's right, at least you know what's good for you. If you hadn't…"
• Before he could finish his sentence, he heard Nix say, "Get him to go down on his knees and apologize."
• Conan was shocked, unable to believe what he heard. "What… What did you just say?"
• Without any hesitation, Anvil placed both of his hands on Conan's shoulder and pressed downward. Conan felt as though a mountain had landed on his shoulders, and his knees immediately yielded.
• Anvil held onto Conan's head and pressed it onto the floor.
• Bang! Bang! Bang!
• Soon, there was a puddle of blood on the floor. Anvil was very careful not to use more than one percent of his strength. Otherwise, Conan's head would have already cracked open.
• The bustling front hall immediately turned silent. Only the sounds of Conan's head striking the floor reverberated in the cavernous space.
