Chapter 5 Suddenly Resigned
- Cecilia hadn't brought Francesca her pastries and coffee. Moreover, never had she participated in company gatherings!
- Francesca was the center of attention. She had gotten to know everyone in the CEO's office over a meal and a few drinks.
- "You guys are saying Cecilia never fits in and never joins the company dinners? How about her family? Does she have a boyfriend?"
- Everyone shook their heads.
- Then someone said, "I heard she hadn't done well academically. I think she was a high school graduate, but she has strong skills. Mr. Grant recognizes her abilities very much!
- "But Ms. Scott, don't get the wrong idea.
- "Cecilia is very reserved. She and Mr. Grant only have a working relationship! We've never seen anything inappropriate happen between them!"
- Just at that moment, "Tch!"
- Another secretary who had a grudge against Cecilia spoke up, "If that's true, how can a high school graduate be Mr. Grant's secretary for four years? She's also the head secretary.
- "Everyone in the CEO's office are social elites, graduates of top universities and graduate schools. Even so, not everyone can get employed by Grant Business!"
- …
- Francesca frowned.
- She disliked Cecilia Young!
- From the moment she saw her, with her aloof personality and beautiful features, she just didn't like her!
- She had a feeling that Cecilia was a threat to her relationship with Harrison.
- The next day at work, Francesca called Cecilia over and questioned, "Ms. Young, I waited until after work yesterday. Where are the pastries and coffee you bought?
- "Were you slacking off, or did you not buy them at all?"
- Cecilia brought over the pastries and coffee she bought last night. "Ms. Scott, Cloudy Bliss Bakery and Starry Sky Coffee House are too far apart. Plus, they're very popular so I had to wait in line.
- "When I returned yesterday, you had already left work."
- "So what?" Francesca cast her cold gaze at Cecilia, "You're the incompetent one! Are you expecting me to eat pastries and cold coffee that was left overnight?"
- Francesca was making things hard for Cecilia!
- She picked up the pastries and coffee on the table and threw them at Cecilia.
- Cecilia looked a mess.
- Francesca looked at her coldly, "You can't even handle such a small matter. I cannot imagine how you take care of my fiancé.
- "Well then! You won't have to do these things in the future. Hand over all your work to me, then resign from the company."
- Cecilia left with her head lowered.
- Francesca was now the fiancée of Harrison! Of course, she had the right to command her and tell her to leave.
- Harrison returned from his business trip after the third day.
- When he returned to the company, he immediately noticed Francesca sitting at Cecilia's workstation. Confused, he asked, "Francesca, what brings you here?"
- Because of their family alliance, their engagement had long been decided. Harrison himself knew that Francesca was going to be his fiancée.
- Francesca smiled brightly.
- She walked over and linked arms with Harrison, "Why can't I be here? Harrison, I'm now your head secretary!"
- She blinked mischievously at him, asking, "Aren't you happy?"
- "Stop messing around," Harrison said.
- "I'm not messing around," she replied.
- "I've graduated from college. Mrs. Grant and my mother thought that since I have to work as an intern, it'd be wise to learn by your side. I've been here for the last three days.
- "I've also been learning from Ms. Young, and she's very nice! She's diligent in teaching me. Now I'm capable of being your head secretary."
- "Where is she?"
- "Who? Oh, you mean Ms. Young?" Francesca smiled and said, "She has already resigned."
- Harrison didn't think that Cecilia would resign, and neither did he think that woman had the right to do so!
- Holding back his emotions, he said, "Come with me."
- "Okay."
- Francesca followed him into his office.
- The door was closed.
- Harrison looked at Francesca with a cold expression, "What's the matter with Ms. Young? Why did she suddenly resign?"
- Francesca blinked in confusion and told him, "I'm capable of being the CEO's head secretary, so she's of no use anymore! Why would she stay here?
- "I also compensated her with her year-end bonus and more than triple her salary. A whole 200 thousand! She took the money and left."
- Harrison fell silent.
- "Let's not mention her." Changing the subject, Francesca asked Harrison whether his business trip had gone smoothly.
- Then in a flirty tone, she said, "I haven't seen you in days. Should we have dinner together after work?"
- "Okay," he replied.
- That night, after joining Francesca for dinner, he took her home.
