Chapter 9 End Our Relationship?

  • Cecilia was stating the truth, "If Ms. Scott finds out about our relationship, she won't let me off the hook easily!"
  • "So?"
  • Harrison extinguished the cigarette in his hand.
  • His dark eyes looked at Cecilia, "You're scared? Do you want to end things with me? Don't you need money anymore?"
  • Cecilia hesitated.
  • She knew him too well.
  • Seeing his cold expression and the darkness in his eyes, she knew he was getting angry.
  • She didn't dare to provoke him. Shaking her head, she said "No."
  • "Hmph!" Harrison sneered.
  • He held Cecilia's chin, "If you leave me, where will you find a man that gives you money anytime you want and satisfies this appetite of yours?
  • "Cecilia Young, stop thinking about nonsense. Everything stays the same unless I say otherwise!"
  • Cecilia fell silent.
  • Harrison's rough hands caressed her cheek. Her delicate face was swollen. Her beauty was ruined by the mark on her face.
  • He frowned slightly.
  • "Does it hurt?"
  • Cecilia shook her head.
  • When Harrison got dressed and left, he tossed a 200 thousand dollars check to her, "This is your compensation."
  • Was it because I got slapped? She thought.
  • "I'll retransfer you tomorrow." With that, he left.
  • In the past four years, he had never stayed overnight at the apartment.
  • Cecilia picked up the check. A bitter and helpless expression was on her face, but she could only accept her fate and put it away.
  • She needed money, she needed it badly!
  • The next day, Cecilia had just arrived at the company when she was called into the office by Francesca.
  • "Cecilia Young, is this how you do things?" Francesca questioned, as she held a stack of reports high in her hand and threw it at Cecilia.
  • It was a thick stack of paper. Cecilia's forehead was hit and started to bleed.
  • "Hmph!" Francesca sneered. She looked at Cecilia's bleeding forehead, "Well aren't you weak?"
  • She walked over and grabbed Cecilia's chin, "Such a pitiful expression! If Harrison saw this, wouldn't he be heartbroken?"
  • Cecilia was stunned.
  • Francesca glared at her, "Tell me, what is your relationship with Harrison?"
  • Cecilia had a cold expression on her face.
  • Even after being slapped, she still had that emotionless expression. Looking at Francesca, she slowly said, "I'm merely the secretary of his company."
  • "Do you expect me to believe that?"
  • Francesca looked at Cecilia arrogantly, "Listen, even if there's anything between you and Harrison, he can still ditch you at any moment!
  • "With your social status, you're not even worthy to be Harrison's shoe polisher!"
  • Francesca told Cecilia that if she was smart, she'd resign immediately. She generously offered to give Cecilia another 500 thousand dollars, but Cecilia refused her offer.
  • She also returned the 200 thousand dollars Francesca had given her, "I wasn't dismissed by Grant Business, so I'm returning the money to you."
  • "You!" Francesca was furious.
  • She glared at Cecilia, "You're my assistant now! Be sensible, take the money, and leave. Pretend as if nothing happened.
  • "Otherwise, I'll make things so difficult for you that you have no choice but to leave!"
  • Cecilia remained silent. She never had the right to leave. Even if she was beaten or tortured, her only option was to accept her fate.
  • Suddenly, "Knock, knock, knock!" the door of the office was knocked. It was a secretary from the CEO's office.
  • After she walked in, she saw the scattered reports on the floor, the injuries on Cecilia's forehead, and the marks on her cheek.
  • She gloated over the scene but quickly suppressed her emotions.
  • "Ms. Scott, Cecilia." She politely greeted the two, then told the latter, "Cecilia, Mr. Grant wants you to return to the CEO's office."
  • "What did you say?" Francesca said.
  • The secretary seemed frightened, her face turning pale, "It was the CEO's decision. Maybe it's because he's used to Cecilia…"
  • Francesca refused to let Cecilia go.
  • "You focus on your work and reprepare yesterday's reports! Don't think about going back! I'll go talk to Harrison!"
  • Francesca arrived at the CEO's office, "Harrison, everything's fine. Why do you want to bring Cecilia back again?
  • "She performed well as my assistant. Plus, Harrison, you have so many secretaries. You don't need her, do you?"
  • Harrison turned to look at her, "Sure, I have many secretaries, but she's the only one who's fit as the head secretary!"
  • With that, the matter was settled.
  • No matter what Francesca said, she couldn't change Harrison's decision. Cecilia eventually returned to her original workstation.
