Chapter 3 Have to, Must Do
- Harrison cursed. His eyes were fixed on Cecilia, "The money I just gave you, was it not enough?"
- Alas, she told the man, "I have my eye on a designer bag."
- Harrison observed the woman before him, "We've been together for so long, and just how many bags have you bought?
- "Were any of them genuine? None of them were even quality replicas! Will you ever tell me the truth?"
- Cecilia looked at the man, feeling shocked. Had she been found out?
- She didn't care.
- She simply looked at him and said, "I need money."
- "500 thousand for one night isn't exactly worthwhile."
- She was speechless.
- Harrison was furious. His gaze was icy as he said, "Haven't I told you? Don't bring up personal matters in the company especially when it involves money!
- "If you need money, we'll talk about it tonight."
- Cecilia held her head low and left. Her heart was aching. She wondered why she had to lead such a petty life.
- In the evening, she received a call from Jennie asking for the money.
- "Tell them I'll bring the money tomorrow!" Cecilia said before hanging up the phone.
- She sat on her chair, feeling powerless. After a while, she went to the kitchen to cook up a hearty meal while waiting for Harrison.
- By 10:00 pm, Harrison still hadn't returned. The food had gone cold.
- She had no choice but to call him.
- Even after several attempts, no one answered.
- It was 11:00 pm. Just as she was about to fall asleep at the dining table, the door opened.
- Harrison, who reeked of alcohol, walked in. His expression was cold as he glanced at the table of dishes. He only found it ironic.
- "You're willing to go to such lengths just to get money! Cecilia Young, you're such a hypocrite!"
- Cecilia said nothing. She walked over to the man and helped him remove his suit jacket.
- Then, with a gentle expression, she softly told him, "You've had so much to drink, have you eaten? I've made your favorite meal.
- "You should eat first. I'll make you a sobering drink."
- She was about to head to the kitchen when suddenly, "No need!" The man refused.
- He grabbed her wrist, pulled her over, and pushed her against the dining table.
- Cecilia's back hit the table, but she only winced. She knew she had no right to complain.
- Harrison approached her. He reached out, sweeping away the food she had made for the night. The plates fell to the ground with a clatter.
- Then, he held Cecilia's waist and lifted her onto the dining table.
- He was mad, "It's 300 thousand you want, right? Please me and I'll give it to you!"
- "…"
- "Quit standing there. Cecilia, I'll give you what you want if you satisfy me!"
- Still, Cecilia remained silent.
- Finally, biting her lip, she approached the man. Her fingers trembling as she unbuttoned his shirt.
- One, two…
- She wrapped her arms around the man's neck and kissed him.
- "Cecilia Young, you're despicable!"
- …
- Time passed.
- The man couldn't care any less for her. He went straight to the bathroom, showered, and changed into clean clothes.
- He didn't want to stay overnight.
- Before leaving, he tossed a bank card to Cecilia. "Work harder to please me the next time you want money!"
- With a loud bang, the door was slammed shut.
- Harrison had left.
- The windows were left open, letting in the frigid wind. Cecilia hugged her shoulders and sat on the sofa, her tears flowing uncontrollably.
- All was silent as a tint of sorrow filled the air.
- The next day, Cecilia, together with her mother, brought the money to the loan sharks.
- Zac was in a sorry state. He was injured all over. He looked starved, and he smelled.
- "Cecilia, I'm sorry," he apologized, feeling somewhat ashamed to face her.
- He avoided her gaze and told her, "I just couldn't control myself! Luck was on my side so I thought I'd win!
- "I just wanted to make more money to pay off my debts! I wanted to give your mother and brother a better life…"
- "This is the last time!" Cecilia warned, "Since the day you started gambling, you've sold off our store, our house, and everything valuable!
- "It's been four years! You keep promising you'll change, but look at where you are now."
