Chapter 10 Come Back Again...

• Once again, Cecilia was working by Harrison's side.
• Francesca was furious.
• She glared at Cecilia, "Don't think you've won! Cecilia Young, I'll make sure you'll come back to be my assistant!"
• Cecilia dared not say a word. She knew that whether it was being Harrison's head secretary or Francesca's assistant, it was not up to her to decide.
• In Francesca's eyes, her attitude was nothing but provocation!
• After Cecilia left, Francesca made a phone call.
• At the same time, back as the CEO's head secretary, Cecilia's injuries on her forehead and cheeks ignited gossip among the CEO's other secretaries.
• "I told you, she must've had something going on with the CEO! Otherwise, she wouldn't have been targeted by Ms. Scott, and she wouldn't have been beaten.
• "She deserves it. Getting involved in an affair, it's only natural to be beaten!"
• Someone hushed the secretary who was speaking, "Keep your voice down."
• "Why should I? Am I afraid she'll hear?
• "Let me tell you! Now that Ms. Scott, our CEO's future wife is here, she has no right to act high and mighty!"
• Cecilia overheard the conversation.
• She smiled bitterly, pretending not to hear anything.
• Because of her aloof personality, and the fact that she was just a high school graduate but possessed outstanding abilities, many in the CEO's office disliked her.
• Even so, no one dared to inconvenience her. Everyone was polite and respectful to her. They had always completed the work she had assigned immediately.
• But now…
• "Cecilia, since you're so outstanding, you can handle the CEO the best! You can do these things yourself, why bother assigning them to us?"
• Cecilia frowned.
• "I'm sorry, Cecilia. I didn't mean that."
• The woman apologized insincerely, then sarcastically said, "Don't worry, I'll immediately notify everyone about the meeting at 10:00 am. Just don't go tattling to the CEO!"
• Cecilia turned and left.
• The woman slammed the folder in her hand, "Such arrogance. Look where that brought you!"
• The people in the CEO's office had already changed their views about Cecilia. Now, they viewed her with looks of mockery and disdain! They had also started to be negligent and uncooperative.
• Faced with everyone's indifferent gazes, Cecilia stood tall and straight. She didn't want to hear those comments that made her feel ashamed, but in reality, she felt just as shameful!
• "Knock, knock, knock!"
• Cecilia knocked on the door of the CEO's office and stepped inside. She placed the documents on the table, "The staff have been notified of the meeting. Also, these are the documents that need your signature."
• "Okay," he responded.
• When he looked up, he saw the band-aid on her forehead. Although she had applied makeup, the mark on her face was still visible.
• An expression of slight irritation swept across his face. Then he lowered his head and continued his work, not saying a word.
• In the evening, Cecilia finished her work. She had just walked out of the building when she was stopped by a man in a black suit. "Ms. Young, Mrs. Grant wants to see you."
• Cecilia looked over and saw her sitting in the car. She walked over.
• "Mrs. Grant," with a cold and polite tone, Cecilia greeted her.
• "Yes, get in the car."
• She took Cecilia to a nearby café.
• As soon as they sat down, she asked, "Ms. Young, Francesca asked you to be her assistant. It's fine if you don't want to. Why did you go back to Harrison's department?"
• "It was Mr. Grant who made the decision."
• "Hmph!" Mrs. Grant sneered. "Are you trying to come between Francesca and Harrison's relationship?"
• She despised Cecilia, "Francesca suspects something between you and Harrison! Indeed, you are a beautiful woman who understands men! But Ms. Young, you're a smart person.
• "Harrison is the heir of the Grant family. If he plays around outside, I won't interfere. But the woman he marries must be worthy of him, a lady from a family of equal status!"
• Mrs. Grant wanted Cecilia to not outstep her boundaries!
• She continued, "Ms. Young, I hope you can see the bigger picture! Francesca likes you and wants you to be her assistant, so you do as she says. If you refuse, then leave Grant Business!
• "Ms. Young, I know your family's situation, and I know you need money.
• "I'm Harrion's mother, and I don't want to have any disputes with him because of an unimportant person! As for the role of head secretary, there'll be plenty more candidates in the future."
• She hoped that Cecilia would continue to be Francesca's assistant and to dispel Francesca's doubts. She didn't want to affect the marriage alliance between both their families.
• If Cecilia decided to leave, she'd give her 5 million!
• "I understand," Cecilia said.
• She didn't want the 5 million Mrs. Grant had offered.
• Instead, she told Mrs. Grant, "I'll be Ms. Scott's assistant."
