Chapter 69 (Mom, I Want Dad)

• I stepped inside to find Kai still sitting on the bed, his attention fixed on the video game he was playing. I let out a sigh and locked the door before walking over to him. I ran my fingers through his hair before bending and kissing his cheeks. He didn’t even say a word.
• I sighed again and sat beside him; the bed creaked at my weight. I looked at the screen and then back at him. “Little bunny, you’re still playing games; it’s past 10 pm. You need to sleep.”
• Yet he refused to say a word or even bat an eye, so I turned him to face me. “Mom is talking to you, Kai.” That’s when he let out a breath. “I couldn’t sleep,” he scoffed, looking stressed.
