Chapter 64 (She Is Hiding Something)
- I drove into Oakland and parked in front of my building. I climbed down and headed to Margaret's apartment, pressing the doorbell. But got no response. I sighed and tried again, accidentally hitting the door handle, which creaked open.
- "She didn't lock up her house?" My eyebrow twitched and I frowned, stepping inside. This was my first time entering her house. The air here was thick with old books and dust. I glanced around, taking in the faded walls and dusty chandeliers.
- I scanned the place but couldn't find her. Hope she is good? My heart pounded very fast as I climbed upstairs. Margaret is just an old woman, lonely just like Kai said. I couldn't imagine Kai being taken away from me, let alone losing a baby.
