Chapter 5 (Looking For Her)
- Pregnant?
- Is Victoria pregnant?..... And she didn’t tell me.
- How was that possible for seven years?
- I rushed upstairs and quickly opened our room but her things were no longer there.
- Her clothes, toiletries, footwear_ everything was gone.
- No…!!! I screamed, pulling my hair.
- Fuck it, I was so focused on sending her away that I didn’t know that she was carrying our child.
- Where exactly will she be now? She can’t go to her parents’ house, I know Victoria, but where?
- She doesn’t have any friends….. shit!!!
- Scratching my head, I paced around in confusion. Why did she get pregnant for me?
- Stupid…. This has always been the plan for her to conceive.
- Her tearful filled eyes flashed back in my head again.
- Oh God!! I divorced her and let her go away with my child.
- I ran my hand through my hair, feeling anxious. The emptiness of the room seemed to be mocking me.
- Damnit! I quickly dialed my best friend’s number.
- The phone rang only twice before he picked up.
- “Hey, I thought you were dead,"
- “Something is wrong, we need to see," I cut in instantly, interrupting him.
- My voice sounded very urgent and desperate.
- There was a brief silence before Bronson asked, “Is everything okay, Logan?"
- I raked my hands through my hair, massaging my temples as I restlessly paced around in a circle. "This isn't something we can discuss over the phone. Meet me at the Onyx Lounge, now!"
- "Bro, Onyx Lounge? Your party's about to start. What's going on?"
- I exploded in frustration, my voice rising. "Fuck the party!!" I yelled, before taking a deep breath and composing myself. "We need to talk, Bronson Vaughn. Now!"
- “Fine," he finally muttered and I instantly ended the call.
- I hurried toward the center table and grabbed my car key and rushed out of the house.
- *** ****
- All the drive down the club was messier, my mind was racing with a lot of questions and what if….
- Today was supposed to be the happiest day of my life but it turned out to be the most drastic day.
- First, Harper is pregnant and now Victoria is also pregnant but nowhere to be seen.
- The baby, her.
- She was no longer in my mansion, where do I start looking for her?
- “Watch out!!" I heard the angry voice of a man, his face contorted in a rage. That seemed to cut through my thoughts, pulling me back to reality and I immediately pressed my feet on the brake, stopping the car from clashing over his car.
- Shit!!!! How could I forget that I was on the road, driving?
- Thank goodness, my tinted glass was whined up. He doesn’t need to know who it was unless news will be everywhere by tomorrow. I ignored his tantrums and ignited my car and drove off.
- I reached the club before Bronson, he still wasn’t in sight.
- I walked over to our favorite spot and sat, my mind drifting off again.
- “Hey buddy, you sounded so desperate,” I heard Bronson's deep voice and I shot my eyes open.
- Sitting upright to face him.
- “I really need your help, I messed up,” I breathe, hating the fact that I am doing this.
- But when it comes to Bronson, I am just open like a book.
- We have been friends for a long time now, since childhood.
- “You messed up, how? Holy crap, yes of course you impregnated your wife’s sister. You fucked up, you know, right?” He said as he walked over to sit down.
- I clenched my jaw, glaring at him. I know I messed up but does he really have to rub it on my face?
- And besides, it was just one thing hit with Harper, we had everything planned. I paid that fool for that, her getting pregnant was just out of the plan.
- Rubbing my jaw, I pushed Harper’s thoughts behind me.
- “Victoria is gone," I said but he didn't flinch or seem surprised.
- "Of course, were you expecting her to stay back? This has been what you wanted so why the face?”
- “Yes but you can’t understand, man, I want her back," I said and roughly ran my hand through my hair.
- “Stop joking, Logan, do you even know who you are talking about?” He gave me an insane look, ".... The same pathetic wife, the ugly, naive, low life, plus sized…..”
- I didn’t let him finish and I cut in.
- "She has my child!" I slammed my fists on the table, my voice trembling with rage.
- My eyes blazed with anger and a hint of frustration.
- "Child?" Bronson raised an eyebrow.
- I gritted my teeth. "I found out she was weeks pregnant."
- Bronson’s wide gaze stared back at me, I didn’t say anything and just lowered my head in shame.
- I already knew what was going through his head right now but he didn’t say anything. Instead he cleared his throat after a few minutes of silence.
- “Alright, calm down. What do you want me to do?”
- Yes, that is it, I lifted my head and leaned forward. Before I could talk, my phone started buzzing, I stared at the caller ID, and of course, it was Madam Calantha.
- I sighed and muted the call.
- “I want to know where she went to, the country, the state…. Anywhere,”
- “But you have a lot of detectives to run this for you, so why call me?"
- “Come on, Bronson, Ethan Thompson is in the hospital. And is not by having a lot of detectives, I need someone that can be fast and get me all the necessary information within two days,”
- Bronson opened his mouth to talk but the ringing tone of my phone cut in again, interrupting our conversation and drawing our attention.
- I stared back at the screen, the same name flashing as the caller ID…. Madam Calantha.
- I angrily switched up my phone and turned to find the curious face looking at me.
- “Why are you not picking?"
- “Not necessary," I shrugged it off, honestly I am not ready for Madam Calantha’s tantrums.
- Mom can be a pain in the ass at times.. well, not sometimes but every damn time.
- She always wants things her way. Those calls smell trouble and I already know what she is up to. Mom never attended my birthday party since I got married to Victoria.
- She despises her gut and can't stand her. But today I know she is at my mansion probably with Harper for some show-off and degrading.
- She doesn’t know that Victoria has already left.
- “Madam Calantha?" Bronson knows me too well.
- “Yeah," I sighed, leaning my head back.
- My head pounds with a lot of margarine, and my headache shoots hard.
- “You didn’t want to tell her?"
- “She doesn’t need to know for now," I said, leaning forward again. “Please help me, you have a smart detective," I begged.
- Bronson gave me a long suspicious stare, " I thought you never wanted a child so why the sudden worked up and besides, Harper is already pregnant if is all about the properties,”
- Fuck it….!
- Can he fucking shut up and just help me?
- I hate the fact that I am this vulnerable, he shouldn’t make it harder for me.
- I clenched my teeth, curling my fists beside me, “Are you going to help me or not?"
- "Of course, I will, I will call Lucas to get in her case immediately,” he said and pulled out his phone to dial a number.
- I know I can always count on him, mom will have my eardrum blown off by tomorrow but right now I just didn’t care.
- My mind is piled up with a lot of thinking and endless thoughts, making the headache worse. I turned and called the bartender.
- The barman approached and lowered his head in respect to take in our order, “ Get us cold Everclear, Absinthe, and Bacardi 151,” I said and Bronson snapped his head at me before giggling.
- I glared at him. He shook his head and turned to answer the call.
- The barman nodded and left and I just rested my head on the chair while tapping my finger on the table waiting for the drinks.
- This is what I really wanted now, anything to clear my mind for a while.
