Chapter 3 Soul Binding Sorcery

  • It had been five minutes since Elio entered.
  • Raelynn anxiously stared at the door of the emergency room.
  • Aston found it difficult to offer comfort. After all, he himself was uncertain.
  • Perhaps in an attempt to instill some confidence in everyone, he suddenly turned to the nurse beside him and asked, “By the way, that young man seems somewhat unfamiliar. Is he a new intern?”
  • Coincidentally, this nurse was the very one who had informed Elio about his discharge from the hospital.
  • After hesitating for a moment, the nurse said, “Dr. Russell, he's not a doctor. He's just a maintenance worker, and he works at Ryton Estates Corporation!”
  • What on earth?
  • Aston almost lost strength in his legs, nearly collapsing to the ground.
  • His eyes, slightly dimmed by age, widened in disbelief. “Are you saying that young man is not a doctor but merely a common laborer?”
  • “Yes!” The nurse nodded.
  • “What utter nonsense! How can a maintenance worker impersonate a doctor so convincingly, even rushing in to perform a rescue? What on earth does he think he's doing?” Aston exploded in anger.
  • A look of shock crossed Raelynn's face when she heard the nurse's words.
  • A plot suddenly surfaced in her mind. The company's maintenance worker is going to treat the big boss' illness. Is this some kind of revenge against the company?
  • “Quick! Save my dad!”
  • As she said these words, she rushed toward the emergency room.
  • Aston also hurriedly led a team, rushing into the emergency room.
  • When they saw the situation inside, they were stunned.
  • Kayden was lying lifeless on the operating table, his body devoid of energy. His eyes were tightly shut, and his complexion was pale, showing no signs of life whatsoever.
  • The most horrifying part was that there was a nail embedded in his forehead, from which even black blood had begun to seep out.
  • Upon witnessing this terrifying scene, Raelynn almost fainted on the spot.
  • Gordon was also at his wit's end, frantically waving his hands. “Dr. Russell, Ms. Ryton, I tried my best to stop him earlier, but I simply couldn't!”
  • He had indeed tried to stop him just moments ago. However, Elio, who had acquired superhuman strength after receiving the inheritance, had brushed him aside with a casual flick of his hand.
  • Aston stared wide-eyed at the scene before him, seething with rage. “What on earth are you doing? You're even using sorcery?”
  • A nail driven into the head, in local superstitions, was considered a form of sorcery. It was believed to bind the spirit of the deceased, condemning it to an eternity of unrest.
  • At that moment, Elio was breaking out in a sweat. Earlier, without any silver needles, the effort he had exerted to perform acupuncture had been substantial.
  • Seeing the crowd barge in, he was just about to speak when a harsh slap landed squarely on his face.
  • A crisp sound echoed.
  • Elio stood there, his face a picture of confusion, as he looked at Raelynn.
  • “Ms. Ryton, did you just slap me? I've exhausted myself trying to save your father, yet you're repaying kindness with hostility!”
  • “Repaying kindness with hostility? Then tell me, who are you really? Why did you pose as a doctor to take revenge on my father? In what way did my father ever wrong you?” Raelynn asked in a state of utter frustration and anger.
  • Upon hearing Raelynn's words, Elio understood that she had become aware of his identity.
  • However, he was still quite upset. “Ms. Ryton, let me make it clear to you. Even though I'm just a humble maintenance worker in your company, and I was just fired today, I never thought of any revenge! If it wasn't for the fact that your father is a philanthropist, I wouldn't even bother to save him!”
  • “The nail is already driven into his head. You're using such brutal sorcery. If this isn't revenge, then what is it?” Gordon roared.
  • Elio let out a cold laugh. “I'm performing acupuncture here! The situation was urgent just now, and I didn't have any silver needles on me. I had no choice but to use the nails left from fixing the water pipe!”
  • Everyone felt it was utterly absurd.
  • “What on earth? In all my years of practicing medicine, I've never heard of anyone using a nail as a silver needle!”
  • “This is absolute nonsense! It's clearly a kind of soul binding sorcery!”
  • Elio's lips curled into a smirk. “Acupuncture, as they call it, is merely a method of stimulating a patient's acupoints. As long as it works, why should we fuss over whether we're using silver needles or not? Ancient folks even used bone needles for acupuncture. So, what's so strange about me using a nail today?”
  • Elio spoke so eloquently that everyone exchanged bewildered glances.
  • “Forget it, your medical knowledge is limited. Explaining it to you would be pointless. I've already stabilized his condition. You can continue with your regular emergency procedures. I don't have the patience to stay around!”
  • After speaking, Elio pinched the nail and pulled it out, then turned and walked away with an air of confidence.
  • What the hell is this all about? I busted my ass trying to save him, and I even got slapped in the face for it!
  • So what if you're rich? You think you're impressive just because you're pretty?
  • If you weren't a woman, I would have dealt with you a long time ago!
  • Elio felt disgruntled inside and left the hospital in a huff.
  • Raelynn's pretty face darkened.
  • Upon hearing Elio's words earlier, Aston hurriedly instructed Gordon, “Don't just stand there. Quickly check on Mr. Ryton's condition.”
  • Medical personnel hastily conducted a physical examination on Kayden.
  • When Aston received the test report, he took one look and his face instantly turned pale, his eyes bulging in shock.
  • “How... How is this possible?”
