Chapter 10 Evelyn Scott
- "We've been together for three months, and you haven't bought me any designer bags or jewelry. I've only spent 45 thousand dollars on my brother's apartment, and now you want it back?
- "Fred bought me a bag that cost three thousand dollars on our first day together. We had our meals at fancy restaurants like Skyline. Being with you made me feel like a beggar."
- Luna flaunted her pink bag in front of Francis.
- Fred scoffed, "A loser will stay as a loser forever. You couldn't provide the lifestyle that your girl wanted and you expected her to pay you back after the breakup. It's so ridiculous!"
- Francis shouted angrily, "Luna, do you have any dignity?"
- Unfazed, Luna taunted, "Francis, are you here to deliver takeout? Hurry up, or you might get a bad review and lose money."
- Fred and Luna burst into laughter.
- "First, I have a lunch date at Skyline today. Second, I won't forget about this 45 thousand dollars."
- "Can you even afford a meal at Skyline with your salary from delivering takeout?" Fred smirked.
- Luna added, "Who would be foolish enough to dine with a loser like you?"
- Meanwhile, a Porsche pulled up at the entrance of Skyline.
- A beautiful woman in a white long dress stepped out of the car.
- Fred's eyes widened at the sight of her, and he gulped.
- He pushed Luna aside, straightened his tie, and approached the woman with a smile.
- "Hello, beautiful lady, I am Fred Cooper of Cooper Pharmaceutical. I wonder if ... "
- Before he could finish, the woman ran happily to Francis without looking at him.
- "You're early, Francis. Let's go!"
- Fred was shocked as he realised that the woman was with Francis.
- Luna, who was pushed aside by Fred, was upset.
- "Fred, what's wrong with you? You promised to make me happy. You already have me!"
- Fred's expression darkened as he watched Francis and Evelyn enter Skyline.
- "Argh! What the hell? How could a woman like her be attracted to a delivery guy?"
- Luna glared at Francis's back, saying bitterly, "I never expected you to become a toy boy. You're shameless."
- ...
- Inside the restaurant, Francis and Evelyn found a seat by the window.
- "Evelyn, thank you for helping my sister with the medical expenses. Here is what I owe you, please take it."
- Evelyn huffed. "Francis, I've told you that she's like a sister to me too. Why are you so stubborn? Am I not your friend?"
- Evelyn, I know you don't need this money, but ...
- "Let's eat first, I'm hungry. Don't mention money again, or I'll be upset."
- Evelyn cut Francis off and smiled playfully. Francis was attracted to her beautiful smile.
- Evelyn ordered the two cheapest dishes on the menu.
- Francis was surprised. He knew that Evelyn didn't want him to spend too much money.
- Luna couldn't be compared to her. Francis couldn't help but shake his head.
- Francis ordered some meat and beverages.
- "You don't have to order so much, it is a waste if we can't finish it." Evelyn looked at the prices and noticed that Francis had chosen something quite expensive.
- "It's fine, let's have a good lunch." Francis smiled.
- The dishes arrived quickly, and they chatted while enjoying their meal.
- "I heard your grandfather's illness has relapsed. Is he better now?" Francis asked with concern.
- Evelyn sighed helplessly, "He has been sick for decades, and there's no cure for it."
- Just then, Evelyn's phone rang. She answered it, and her expression changed instantly.
- "What? Grandpa isn't doing well? What happened? He was fine at lunch today, wasn't he? I'll be right back."
