Chapter 9 Luna's New Lover

  • Anthony was surprised at James's words.
  • Someone great like him wanted to be an apprentice of someone younger than him.
  • Francis was shocked too. "Dr. Hunt, you're welcome to discuss about medicine with me in the future. You don't have to be my apprentice."
  • James was disappointed. "I know that you have high standards for accepting apprentices as you have great medical skills. I shouldn't have suggested that."
  • "Well, I still have to go to my sister," Francis said. His sister was waiting for him to care for her.
  • Francis's phone rang suddenly.
  • A clear and crisp voice was heard, "Francis, how is your sister doing? My grandfather's illness relapsed recently, so we made an appointment with a renowned doctor from the capital. Do you want him to treat your sister?"
  • "Evelyn, my sister is doing much better now, thank you for your concern."
  • Francis felt grateful to Evelyn, his college classmate. She was the perfect girl.
  • "Great to hear that. It has been a while since we last met. Are you free this afternoon? Let's have lunch together."
  • Francis didn't refuse her. Ever since his sister fell seriously ill, Evelyn had been regularly inquiring about her condition.
  • After hanging up the phone, Francis headed to the payment counter. His sister's medical bills were overdue by half a month.
  • "Ms. Scott had paid your sister's medical expenses."
  • Francis was surprised. Evelyn Scott?
  • Recently, Evelyn had been the only one showing concern for his sister.
  • They were only classmates and yet she was helping him with the medical bills.
  • It was ironic that Luna failed to help but also used the money meant for his sister's treatment to buy a house for her brother.
  • She didn't have any conscience at all.
  • Francis quickly texted Evelyn: 'Thank you for settling my sister's bill. Lunch is on me at Skyline Restaurant.'
  • 'No problem, she's like my sister too. We should help each other since we're classmates.'
  • ...
  • Francis went to James. "Dr. Hunt, I'm a little busy in the afternoon. Could you please watch over my sister for me?"
  • James was eager to agree to Francis's request. "Of course, my friend. Go ahead, your sister will be well taken care of."
  • "Thanks."
  • After expressing his gratitude, Francis went to the bank to withdraw 4.5 thousand dollars. He still had 1.49 million dollars in his bank.
  • Then, he went to Skyline Restaurant.
  • Skyline was a famous restaurant in Ashenwald. It costs at least three thousand dollars to dine here.
  • Only the elite would choose to dine here.
  • Although he wouldn't indulge in such luxury himself, Francis had to thank Evelyn for her kindness, so he couldn't be too frugal.
  • Francis texted Evelyn when he arrived: 'I'm there. What would you like to eat? I'll order first.'
  • A red Audi A6 stopped not far away from him. It was a common sight at Skyline's entrance.
  • Francis was shocked to see Luna holding a man's arm intimately after they got out of the car.
  • He was enraged. "Luna, give me back my money!"
  • Although Francis was short of money at the moment, he had to get back the 45 thousand dollars no matter what. It was the compensation that his mother received in a car accident.
  • Luna was surprised to see Francis. "Loser! Do you still want a beating? How dare you ask me for money!"
  • Fred, who was standing beside Luna, glanced at Francis and asked, "Luna, who's this guy?"
  • "I've mentioned it to you before, he's that Francis guy. He had spent 45 thousand dollars on me, and now he wanted me to pay him back. How could I fall for someone like him?"
  • Fred sneered, "It's your ex-boyfriend who used to deliver takeout?
  • "Francis, you're a petty man. You dare to demand the money that you have spent on a woman. It's the first time that I came across someone like you."
  • Francis was furious. "Whatever. Luna, pay me back 45 thousand dollars, not a penny less."
  • Luna showed her true colours. He got the money at the price of his mother's life. He was determined to get it back.
