  • Evangelina sat quietly in her room, gazing out the window at the sprawling gardens beyond. The morning sun cast a warm, golden glow over the estate, but her thoughts were anything but serene. The unease from her last encounter with Lydia lingered like a shadow, and though she tried to brush it off, a sense of dread crept into her heart. She took a deep breath, steeling herself. She wouldn't let anyone intimidate her.

  • "Good morning, Evangelina," Lydia said, stepping into the room without waiting for an invitation. "I hope I'm not disturbing you."
