Chapter 41 Strangers
- I fought against the men with everything I had, but it was like struggling against a tidal wave. They were too strong, too fast, and I was overwhelmed. My heart pounded in my chest, and a sickening dread filled me as I realized that this might be the end. My life could end right here, right now, in this cold, dark garden, at the hands of these strangers.
- Was this Aemilio's plan all along? Had he finally decided to dispose of me? Get rid of me without anyone knowing? The thought chilled me to the bone. If I screamed, would it only make things worse? What if more men came? What if Bruno was part of this? A part of me wanted to stay silent, but fear took over, and I decided to take the risk. With all the air I could muster, I screamed.
- "Help! Somebody, help me!"
