Chapter 24
- I sat, silent, as the others chatted. At the other end of the table were Emil’s children. The first son was almost a mirror image of our law, Prince Michael. Abraham looked like him, minus the scar. I studied Ellis and Rena and decided they must have resembled their mother, with their pale hair. Emil came into the room and stood beside Arius. There again, the family resemblance was so strong there was no doubt the Whitham genes were strong.
- Was having a beautiful child something women thought about? Not that there would be any of that in my life…I sat straighter and cleared my throat. Why was I thinking about things like that?
- Rena glanced over at her father. “I brought the list.” She patted the worn leather-bound book in front of her. “Are you going to explain what’s happening?”
