Chapter 23

• I looked around the table at the royal family while the mage rattled on, endless things I knew nothing about. No one else seemed to have a clue either. The four elders in attendance looked bored, at best. I glanced at Emil, for what had to be the hundredth time, he was distracted and not paying attention to anything that was said.
• Leone looked at Romulus, then to Clairee before leaning on the table and giving the mage a hard look. “Now explain all of that, without the side trips—in plain English.”
• The mage took a deep breath and nodded slowly. “It’s very exciting,” he waved his hand in the air, “I’ve never seen one of this magnitude.” He looked at the piece of glass sitting on a cloth in front of him. “Arwan is controlling,” he shrugged, “at least twenty different casts through this.”
