Chapter 11 Laelim's Apology

  • The incredible scene unfolded before their eyes. Thirteen acupuncture needles produced a soft hum, letting out a white mist. Malinda was mesmerized by the sight. About half an hour later, Jaymore removed the needles with care.
  • With concern, Malinda asked, "Grandpa, how're you feeling now?"
  • Taking a deep breath, Tario responded, "Way better, all thanks to Mr. Reed's magic touch."
  • Tario expressed his gratitude with a profound bow, saying, "Thanks a bunch for saving my life. I owe you big time."
  • In response, Jaymore smiled reassuringly before continuing, "I've only provided temporary relief. To really kick those cancer cells' butts, you'll need a few more rounds."
  • Tario smiled warmly and proposed, "As a little thank-you, how about a villa up on Cloudcairn Mountain?" With gratitude, he handed Jaymore a key.
  • Jaymore took it with a grateful nod. After a quick chat, he said his goodbyes to the Hopkins.
  • As Jaymore left, Malinda couldn't help but voice her concern. "Grandpa, was the gift too much? That villa up on Cloudcairn Mountain is the fanciest place ever, worth billions! Jaymore's help is priceless, but did we really need to hand him such a lavish gift? Wouldn't a million be enough?"
  • Tario shook his head, setting her straight. "Malinda, you're not seeing the bigger picture. Jaymore isn't your average guy. Give him some time. He's bound to make it big. Giving him that billion-dollar villa is a small price to pay if it means we've got a solid connection with him for our family's sake."
  • Malinda still had her doubts, asking, "What's so special about Jaymore? He's just a son-in-law of the Moore Family. Is it really worth cozying up to our family?"
  • To Malinda, the Hopkin Family was the most influential in Walstino. She saw Jaymore as just a live-in son-in-law with no real background. If it weren't for his knack for fixing Tario's illness, she wouldn't have even considered him twice, just because he married into the Moore Family.
  • "Malinda, Jaymore's got more to him than meets the eye. It'd be wise to keep him in your circle," Tario suggested, his expression holding a knowing smile.
  • With seventy years under his belt, Tario's knack for reading people was spot-on. Despite Jaymore being just a live-in son-in-law for now, Tario saw a bright future ahead of him, defying all odds.
  • "Really?" Malinda doubted. She mulled over Tario's words, her expression turning thoughtful.
  • The following day, Jaymore received a call from an unfamiliar number. He answered, "Hello, who is this?"
  • The voice on the other end replied, "Mr. Reed, this is Laelim Turner."
  • Jaymore's brows furrowed at the name. He then asked, "What's the reason for your call?"
  • "Mr. Reed, I want to apologize for yesterday. Let's meet at Nova Bay Resort for dinner to make things right. I hope you'll come," Laelim pleaded.
  • After a moment's thought, Jaymore agreed, "Okay, I'll be there."
  • Soon enough, Jaymore found himself back at Nova Bay Resort while Laelim eagerly awaited in an opulent private room.
  • "Mr. Reed, glad you made it!" Laelim greeted him with a warm smile.
  • At the table, Jaymore got straight to the point. "What do you want from me?"
  • As the saying goes, too much politeness for no reason usually had something fishy. Jaymore had a hunch that there might be an ulterior motive behind Laelim's sudden dinner invitation.
  • Then, out of the blue, Laelim dropped to his knees with a thud in front of Jaymore. "Mr. Reed, please, I beg you, save me!" he pleaded.
