Chapter 1 Return of the God of War

  • In early September, when the weather was pleasantly cool, a bus traveled on the highway to Walstino.
  • A young man sitting in the back window seat had his eyes glued to a photo of a charming woman.
  • Jaymore Reed, Estren's God of War—also known as General Azrael, the only five-star general in Estren.
  • Going back eight years, he was the young master of Montveil's top family, the Reed Family. However, he was later disowned and rendered homeless.
  • Going back six years, he couldn't even feed himself or stay warm, basically a wanderer. Later, he ended up in Walstino, where he became the Moore Family's live-in son-in-law.
  • Going back five years, he headed for Estren's northern border. His journey began as a helper and then grew into Estren's God of War.
  • Five years later, he had shed all his glory and was on his way home.
  • On this trip home, he only had one wish—to build a world for the woman he loved the most.
  • "Chelsea, wait for me. This time, I will give you a happy and fulfilling life."
  • Jaymore clutched the photo, murmuring to himself with a loving expression.
  • ...
  • At the same time, at Walstino Station, a luxurious Mercedes-Benz was parked at the intersection, drawing envious glances from the surrounding people.
  • In front of the car stood two stunning women.
  • The older one looked to be in her forties but had maintained her appearance well, making her appear to be only in her thirties.
  • Meanwhile, the younger woman was in her twenties and looked tall and charming. However, she looked upset.
  • The older woman was Raya Webster, Jaymore's mother-in-law.
  • The younger woman was undoubtedly Chelsea Moore, the Belle of Walstino and Jaymore's beloved wife.
  • "Chelsea, when Jaymore comes back, you must divorce him. You hear me? Once you get rid of him, every wealthy young man in Walstino will be at your disposal," Raya earnestly advised Chelsea.
  • Her daughter was the Belle of Walstino, yet six years ago, the patriarch of the Moore Family, Nicholas Moore, suddenly married her off to a wanderer for no reason.
  • Now that Nicholas had passed and Jaymore was returning to Walstino, Raya was insistent on getting Chelsea to divorce her useless son-in-law.
  • Hearing that, Chelsea snapped impatiently, "Mom, I know. Stop nagging."
  • She felt nothing for the husband she hadn't seen for five years, and the only reason she came to pick up Jaymore was to divorce him.
  • "Mom, honey, I'm home!"
  • Right then, they heard a familiar voice. Then, they saw a young man with a canvas bag approaching them.
  • The young man was none other than Jaymore.
  • Upon seeing Jaymore, Raya sneered. "Jaymore, after five years at the border, you finally decided to come home. Did you manage to get an authoritative position this time?"
  • However, the response she got was a head shake and the words, "No, I retired."
  • "What? You retired?" Raya shrieked after hearing that and mocked Jaymore, "It seems you couldn't achieve anything in the army, so you decided to return home and freeload off of us. Well, dream on! I'm going to get Chelsea to divorce you!"
  • When Chelsea heard that Jaymore hadn't achieved anything after five years of being at the border, a hint of disappointment appeared on her face.
  • She grabbed Raya and urged, "Mom, please don't make a scene, or it'll be embarrassing. Let's discuss this at home."
  • "Hmph!" Raya snorted coldly. "Jaymore, just wait until we get home. I'll show you what I'm made of."
  • Jaymore felt helpless.
  • After five years on the border and experiencing life and death, he never expected to return to an indifferent wife and sarcasm from his mother-in-law. The bitterness he felt was evident in his stiff smile.
  • Later, Jaymore got into the car and departed with Chelsea.
  • During the journey, he gazed out the window and saw Cloudcairn Mountain, Walstino's trademark mountain, not far away.
  • Owning a villa at Cloudcairn Mountain would cost several million.
  • Only the elites of Walstino could have the privilege to reside there.
