Chapter 6
- The door was locked, and I couldn't think twice before kicking it hard, breaking down the hinges; I sped in and saw the pills lying in the cupboard.
- I picked it up and dashed back, this time faster than my legs could carry me, as I couldn't tell how long he could hold on to the pain since he was struck by more than two arrows.
- The moment I got into my room, he was lying motionless on the bed, and I felt my heart stop inside my chest as my blood ran cold at the thought that he could be dead already.
- "No!" my voice shrieked through the room as tears stung my eyes with my heart so heavy.
- I exhaled in relief as I saw him awake, his heart thudding inside his chest; his eyes also opened. I can't believe I was concerned this much.
- He heard the scream. He saw how I ran over and leant to his face. That had made him smile weakly, displaying his dimples. I had to gulp and act like I never cared that much with a shrug.
- "Take the pills. I can't find any ointment. This will cure your inner wound and prevent you from dying, even though the external wound won't heal so fast." I purred into his ear, trying hard not to touch him. Not because of his wounds, but because I'm afraid of that spark, that electrifying feeling when our skin meets.
- He sat up, and I handed the pill and water to him, which he gurgled down his gullet before handing back the cup to me. I headed over to the table to drop it and could feel his eyes all over me from behind.
- My pace was quite slow as I couldn't tell what would happen next if I turned to him after dropping the cup.
- "Thank you for your help," he spoke out.
- I couldn't push back the grin; the blushing and exciting feelings at that appreciation.
- But then, I realized what I had done. Saved a vampire Instead of killing him.
- I turned and walked to him in sadness
- I think I have made another mistake in my life, all because of love. I sat on the stool beside the bed as our eyes locked together again; I was falling hard for him, yet I don't know if he feels the same. I am always the fool.
- "The only mistake you made was falling for Torian, who doesn't love you but wanted you for sex only," he cooed, and my eyebrows arched on hearing him say that.
- I can't remember telling him about Torian.
- "What do you mean? Like, who told you?" I shrieked with a gaping mouth.
- He looked at me with a little smile before stretching his hand to mine. I felt like pulling back, but lost the strength as his soft palm held my mind softly, the spark rushing through me like a wave.
- "I came inside this pack because of you. It was dangerous, yet I couldn't mind; I thought my identity wouldn't be exposed, but a witch found out and that was why I was hunted. I followed you all day, and I'm sorry for all that Torian did. I'm also sorry for what will happen to you after now," he purred, tears wetting his eyes.
- Just then, I heard footsteps and the voice of my father outside the sitting room and knew instantly what he meant; it was like a tsunami hitting me hard before I could realize it.
- Hot tears stung my eyes so painfully that they poured like a stream.
- "My name is Blake," he uttered and moved his hand over my neck gently, plucking out the heart-shaped pendant that hung over my necklace. He also did the same with his necklace pendant, which was a pearl ring.
- "I'm so sorry...." he murmured again and dipped the ring into my palm before standing off the bed, revealing his 6ft height and ripped body with a broad chest like a sculpture, The tattoos that ran along his arms and neck made him look so manly and pleasant to spend all day looking at. I could smell the earthy scent that swirled around him at that moment.
- The footsteps and voices of my parents were becoming louder as they climbed the stairs, making me feel very sad again. They will find out what I did today, and my life might never be the same again.
- Blake moved to the window with a leopard-like grace that I found so enticing. He slid the handle, and I could see him take a deep breath as he made to dive out, but paused and turned to me where I stood with shivering legs.
- Before I could see it coming, he drew over to me and kissed my lips deeply, then leapt out almost at the same time.
- Just then, the door to my room sprang open, and my parents walked in.
- The door of my room was kicked open, and my parents hurried in like they were being chased by something; their feet stomping on the floor broke the sudden silence that had hovered around the room, yet I couldn't move my body or swirl around them.
- The moment was chilling, and I could feel my heart grow so heavy and tense, with all the veins tightening like it was being ripped out slowly. The footsteps of my parents were sounding in my ears and drawing closer to me, but I stood transfixed, gazing at the window where he had leapt off from.
- My tears were still flowing freely down my cheeks, as it dawned on me that everything had rumbled and crashed; my emotions were battering each other and breaking me more, in a way that made my legs throb.
- "Where is he?" The gruff voice of my father struck my head, deep into my skull and brain, as I instantly shut my eyes tightly, my lips quivering in fear.
- I was still facing the window and opening my eyes and could see his blood smeared on the window bar; there were also his bloodied feet sprints on the floor. My parents will find out I saved a vampire. The daughter of a pack hunter saved a vampire from being caught; that was something never heard in history. I have done a terrible thing for a reason I can't explain.
- He is gone, and I will be left alone to suffer.
- "Where is he?" My father thundered, and I clutched my cheek, resting my jaw on my palm as I stared at his face, which had turned red in rage; my eyes flashed to mum, and I saw she was searching around the room. She must be looking for vampire.
- "Who are you talking about, please?" I asked my father with a wavering voice as my head pounded so hard.
- "Where is that vampire that came in here?!" He yelled the question, banging his hand on the table in frustration as his muscles sprouted out immediately.
- "Daughter..." Where is he? Just bring him out and nothing will happen to you" After tiring of searching, my mother spoke up for the first time.
- It was useless to lie. They're both convinced he came here; even the vampire blood splattered in some areas of my room confirms it.
- I'm just realizing why he kept saying he was sorry. He knew the danger he had put me into, but he had mentioned that he would pay me back. He also kissed me; was all that his prank to get me to save him? That is it!
- He is gone while I stay to suffer for him. After the pain of heartbreak from Torian, I will have to pass through another terror.
- "You saved him? You helped him escape?" My dad fired, clenching his fist.
- My mother left abruptly, and came back shortly with shock written all over her face.
- "What did you find?" my father asked her. I could see tears in her eyes.
- "Our room was busted open and the vampire poison drug taken. She didn't only save him, but gave him the pill to treat the poison from our arrows!!" I heard her shrilly voice, which was followed by a grunt, while dad rumbled and kicked the table in front of him, breaking the mirror with his fist as frustration took over him.
- "Now we will lose our daughter!" my mother cried and slumped on the floor.
