Chapter 8
- Hello, Samantha Bear. "Hey, Samantha Bear. "Is everything all right?" he inquired, a broad grin on his face. I hugged him strongly as I placed my arms around him and nodded my head. He didn't say anything at first; he just stood there.
- Then he wrapped his arms around me and buried his face in my hair, and I cried out in pain. "Samantha, what's going on?" he questioned, his voice breaking as he drew back to stare at me. "If someone's furious with you, I swear to God I'll do something about it," he started, but I stopped him by putting my finger on his lips.
- "I haven't been bothered by anyone. The only thing is that I've been missing you these last few of days," I explained, kissing his cheek and drawing away from him.
- He gave me a shaky smile, which indicated that he understood what I was talking about. "I missed you as well."
- "Come on, Samantha, we'll be late for class if we don't hurry." Susan screamed, which made me jump.
- Henry cracked a grin. "Let's get this party started. "I'll see you after school," he said, moving to the side of the road to allow me to pass by.
- My tongue was thrust out at him as I started to walk away from the table. He whacked my ass in a playful manner just as I was about to pass him. I exhaled contentedly and walked away from the table without saying anything. Hopefully, it will be the end of the matter..
- That particular evening was gaming night for him. He was driving us tonight, and then he was picking me up and taking me to my first party since enrolling at the university. The thought of that made me a little nervous, but Henry assured me that he would take good care of me. Susan had informed me that these gatherings were known to get a little out of hand.
- "Are you still planning on wearing my number?" When we arrived at school, Henry grabbed my hand and motioned for me to assist him in getting me out of his car. As we made our way to the school and approached the guys locker area, he didn't let go of my hand. I cracked a grin. Since this afternoon, everything seemed to have returned to normal between us, and I exhaled a breath of relief.
- "I'm happy to, if that's what you want," I said, biting my lower lip.
- He flashed a grin. "Of course I do," Samantha Bear, you're one of my closest friends."
- My heart rate fell a little, but I couldn't put my finger on why. I was nothing more than his best friend; I had no other responsibilities. So, what was it about being suddenly that I desired? I couldn't seem to get my mind off of that kiss and how his lips were so perfectly matched to mine.
- He dragged me into the boys' locker room, where we talked for a while. While being pulled into the building, someone yelled, "Hey, she can't come in here!"
- My eyes widened as I saw there were half-na**d boys all over the place. "Hmm, lovely view," I murmured, a smirk on my face. I took a few steps back and swept my gaze across the room, passing my gaze gently over each of the boys in turn.
- Henry chuckled and pressed his hand over my eyes to keep me from crying. Then he laughed and pushed me ahead, saying, "Come on, little girl, let's get that shirt for you and then you can go!" Whistles and amusing remarks could be heard, which made me smile. Henry growled something along the lines of'shut the f**k up,' and then he placed something in my possession. He pulled me forward once again while I was still shielding my eyes.
- I burst out laughing once we were outside the door. "Mmm, thank you so much!" I chirped, wagging my brows in the process.
- He smiled, rolled his eyes, and rolled his eyes some more. "Would you like me to accompany you to the field?" he inquired, wrapping an arm around my shoulder.
- The sweetness of his demeanor made me smirk and giggle. From the time we were children, he had always been this way toward me, walking me to and from places because he was concerned about me getting into trouble. "I think I'll be able to make it."
- He chuckled as well. “Okay. "I'll see you later," I say. He walked back into the locker room with a smile on his face. The second the door opened, I could hear one of his team members making fun of himself because of me.
- I just smiled and lowered my gaze to the object in my hands. It was a massive maroon football shirt that was on display. I flipped it over to look at the wording on the reverse of the card. 'WILLIAMS 12' is an abbreviation. I pulled it on over my tight black top and pale blue slim jeans with a grin on my face. The next day, I walked out to the field and sat with Susan, who was also watching the game and having a good time.
- "Hello," a male voice said next to me after a few moments of silence.
- “Er, hi yourself,” I said, turning to gaze at him. In fact, he was imposingly tall, perhaps about 6 foot 3 in height, with a well-defined but not too muscular build. He had a long black beard that ran across his forehead and beautiful blue eyes that glowed in the sunlight. An insignificant scar ran through his left brow, which was punctuated by an inconsequential sterling silver piercing; he also had an inconsequential lip ring at the corner of his bottom lip.
- An untucked black T-shirt that clung to his body, low-slung trousers, and biker boots completed his look, which was casual and uncomplicated. He was so attractive that it appeared as if he had just strolled out of a photo shoot for a magazine. I looked away immediately when I realized I was staring at something and returned my attention to the field, where the game was still in progress. I had no idea what I was looking at.
- "So, you're dating Henry Williams?" the guy inquired, a grin on his face.
- What on earth led everyone to believe such a thing? I returned my attention to him. "Can you tell me what motivates you to say that?" I was perplexed and inquired. I didn't recognize this guy from my high school days at all. If I'd seen him before, I'm sure I'd have recognized him right away!
- "Well, you're sporting his number, aren't you?" "It's kind of a girlfriend's job, right?" he answered, a sneer on his face. I looked down at myself, noticing that I was wearing Henry's away shirt, which I had completely forgotten about until that moment.
- "Actually, no, not at all. We're just good buddies, that's all. "We're not dating," I said, returning my attention to the field.
- "Wow, that's really good. "My name is Blake," he introduced himself with a casual smile. I chewed my lower lip as I snooped around behind him once more. He was a fantastic hottie.
- My attention was drawn away from the butterflies in my stomach as I pretended to be engaged in the game once more. "Samantha," I said, trying to ignore the butterflies in my stomach. I was aware that he was looking at me.
- "So, you're planning a trip to the South Shore?" he inquired, nodding his head in the direction of the field.
- I smiled and nodded. "Yeah, but you don't do you?" The answer to that inquiry, however, was already known to me; he had most certainly not been present this week. I observed that all of the girls - and even some of the moms - were staring at him with passionate emotions on their faces, and I thought it was strange.
- "No," he said, popping the p in response. The fact that he didn't elaborate caused me to turn my back on him and smile to myself. That was fine with me. If he wanted to play, then that was fine with me.
- "Bring it on, Henry!" I yelled, leaping to my feet and clapping.
- When I noticed Henry turn to smile at me, I gave him a wink and returned to my seat. Blake returned his gaze to mine once again. "You're not dating, are you?" he inquired, a sneer on his face once more,
- "No," I responded, popping the p in the same way he had done to me.
- He burst out laughing. "So, Samantha, what are your plans for after the game?" he inquired, a seductive smile on his face causing my butterflies to flutter once again.
- "Yep," I said in response. I had to hold back a smile when I saw his irritated expression.
- "Can you tell me what you're doing?" he inquired, leaning closer to me until the sides of our bodies were in contact.
- "I'll be attending a party with Henry." I shook my head.
- He took a long breath and exhaled it. "Well, I guess I'll just have to find someone else to take me out to dinner then," I say. He grumbled and pouted as he slipped further up the bench, away from the group.
- I teasingly winked at him. "I'm sure you will."
- According to the look on his face, working for a date was something new to him, and he laughed and shook his head, seeming slightly perplexed. Susan came sprinting back with our fries and a soda at that same moment.. Her jaw dropped open as she looked over to Blake, who was sitting next to me.
- “Holy friggin shit! I'm Blake Chambers!" she practically exclaimed, pressing herself between us and almost sitting on his lap. "You're Blake Chambers!"
- "Yes, I am," he said, a sneer on his face. The fact that she was virtually drooling on him indicated that this was the reaction he desired from me. In an attempt to get into the football game, I grabbed my fries and started eating while attempting unsuccessfully. I was completely clueless as to what was going on. The scoreboard stated we were winning, but that’s all I knew.
- People began to boo and holler as soon as they saw the sign. I looked around at everyone, perplexed, trying to figure out what I'd missed. Blake was looking at me with a smile on his face.
- "Can you tell me what happened?" I was perplexed and inquired.
- He shook his head, a smirk on his face, and said nothing. "It was a foul ball," he clarified. "Don't you have any knowledge of football?" he questioned, a sneer on his face once more.
