Chapter 46

  • Monday came with all the excitement of rain on a beach day. It was hard enough reading for the exams but imagine trying to read for exams while hot, messy family gossip races through your head. Yes, that’s what I was faced with. I couldn’t still wrap my head around the fact that Heather’s mom and Tyler’s dad had an affair. How did that even happen? And since Tyler’s dad referred to her as ‘that bitch' some messy stuff must have happened. I thought about spilling the tea to Charlie but then it’s none of my business to share that kind of story with my bestie. So here I am alone in an empty class lost in my thoughts with an open book in front of me trying to revise for my Biology exams. Since my exam was at noon I took the 2 hours I had to go through my notes. Charlie had wanted us to read together but she wanted Heather to read with us too and to be honest I don’t think I’m ready to face Heather yet. I mean we became enemies the very moment I stepped foot in this school so it’s not like either one of us is dying to kiss and make up especially now that a single prank is threatening to dethrone her from her Edwin and Co. Queen bee seat.
  • There were still rumors going around school since the itching powder incident even though it was not two and half weeks past. Lola and Heather were still not on good terms with each other. Even their sitting arrangements in class were no longer the same. Lola moved her seat to the row after Heather’s and Dahlia who was a bystander in all of these together with Jordan also moved her seat to the other side of the class. The only people who maintained the BBC seats were Christian, Tyler and Heather. I just can’t understand Christian. One second he’s a total bad boy warning me off, telling me he’s my enemy and the next moment he is a loyal friend to the boy who had sex with his girlfriend. He was the only one among the Bad Boys Club who talked with every single member, my guess is he’s trying to be the glue to bring them all back together. Either that or I just don’t understand Christian at all. Since the night of the party at the Seniors’ quarters, he did everything he could to avoid me. It hurts because I like him a lot and if Tyler is right and Christian likes me too then he has the weirdest way of showing it by avoiding eye contact with me, passing me in the halls without saying a single word to me. How do I get him to speak to me?
  • I sighed deeply and once again scanned the page of the book in front of me. I was already more than familiar with the Taxonomy of plants and animals since I spent hours reading them after Annabel advised me to read on them.
