Chapter 92
- As the soft glow from the bedside lamp illuminated the room, Carla gently traced small circles on Dom’s tiny back. He lay nestled between her and Liam, his small chest rising and falling in peaceful slumber. The room was silent, save for the occasional coo from Dom and the rhythmic hum of the ceiling fan.
- Carla leaned closer to her baby, her heart heavy with emotion. “I know you saw everything that happened, baby. It’s just sad that you’re too young to say anything sensible,” she whispered, her voice laced with worry. Dom, wide-eyed but calm, reached out with his tiny hand and poked her nose. Carla chuckled softly, though the tension in her chest didn’t ease.
- Liam, lying on the other side of Dom, watched the exchange with a mixture of tenderness and unease. He hadn’t shared his full concerns with Carla... about how the security footage had shown nothing unusual, how it made no sense that the door had been open. But he didn’t want to burden her further, not tonight.
