Chapter 82
- My father was behind the large desk, his eyes flicking up from the papers in front of him when I entered. For a moment, he looked startled, his brow furrowing as though seeing me standing there was an apparition. He hadn’t expected me to return. Then, the mask slid into place. The cold, calculating father I knew all too well.
- "So, you're back," he said, his voice flat, though there was a noticeable edge. "I suppose Alpha Lucien wasn't enough of a shield for you, was he?" He leaned back in his chair, the same smug smile tugging at the corner of his lips that had always made my skin crawl. "I knew that Lucien was too soft-hearted to get justice for Rhea and Mael. But you, you're more determined. Maybe that's the only good thing you've inherited from your mother."
