Chapter 9 Torin To The Rescue
- Torin suddenly smiled, his smile chilling to the bone. He signaled the two bodyguards standing outside the door. Like puppets on strings, they slowly walked in and shut the door behind them.
- Torin settled into the couch, then motioned for Zinnia to sit on his lap, waving his hand gently. Instantly, the two bodyguards, as if possessed, knelt beside Julian, raising their hands to strike him.
- Their movements were robotic and stiff as they hit him, but they put a lot of force into it. After two slaps, Julian was in so much pain that he cried out loudly. Angry, he yelled, “Have you lost your minds? How dare you hit me... Ouch!”
- Before he could finish his sentence, a powerful slap struck his face, causing blood to stream down from the corner of his mouth.
- Torin watched the whole scene indifferently. In less than three minutes, Julian was already beaten to a pulp, to the point where he didn't even have the strength to scream in pain.
- Tears streaming down his face, he pleaded with Torin, “Torin, I was wrong. Please spare me. You'll beat me to death!”
- Torin said coldly, “Your bodyguards are the one who beat you to death. What does that have to do with me?”
- As he spoke, he casually waved his phone. “I've recorded the video of them attacking you. After you're dead, I'll hand it over to the police.”
- A chill ran down Julian's spine, his face a mask of shock and fear. He exclaimed, “Torin! I swear, I wasn't the one who got you thrown in jail!”
- Torin narrowed his eyes. “It wasn't you?”
- Julian fervently nodded. “It wasn't! I swear! The one who framed you was someone else. His name is Jonah!”
- Jonah?
- An icy light flashed past Torin's gaze. “Do you know him?”
- Petrified, Julian spilled the beans, telling him everything that happened back then in one breath.
- As it turned out, after Julian's plan to have his elders propose marriage to the Lindgren family failed, he was frustrated and decided to drown his sorrows in alcohol. As fate would have it, he bumped into Jonah at the bar.
- Jonah was also a wealthy scion in Hofcaster. His family, the Dawson family, not only possessed substantial wealth but was also involved in both legal and illegal circles. Even Julian dared not to provoke someone like him.
- Jonah and Julian knew each other. Seeing Julian in a gloomy mood, Jonah asked him what was wrong. Julian then revealed that Zinnia had rejected him and even showed Jonah a photo of Zinnia.
- After Jonah took a look at the photo, he put an arm around Julian's shoulder and assured him that he could deal with Zinnia's boyfriend for him.
- Back then, Julian despised Torin with a passion. He handed Jonah a hundred thousand right on the spot and even promised to give him an additional five hundred thousand as a token of gratitude once the matter was settled.
- Not long after that, disaster struck the construction site overseen by Torin's family. Tragically, Torin's parents and sister-in-law were killed, while his elder brother, Silas, was left paralyzed. Consequently, Torin had to return home to handle the funeral arrangements, as well as to take care of his brother and young niece.
- At that point, Jonah summoned his friends from the underworld, arranging for them to bring in a severely injured person. Then, they knocked out Torin, who was investigating the construction site incident. They used this opportunity to frame Torin for assault, ultimately leading to Torin being sentenced to prison.
- Torin grew tense upon hearing the story, infuriated. He asked in a deep voice, “Was the incident at the construction site also Jonah's doing?”
- Julian replied, “Perhaps, I'm not sure. Jonah didn't elaborate. He simply mentioned he intended to have you imprisoned.”
- “Jonah Dawson! I swear, I'll make your life a living hell!” he growled, a chilling murderous intent glinting in his eyes.
- Zinnia knew just how intense the sorrow and anger raging within Torin were. She held him gently, comforting him in silence.
- Julian was terrified by Torin's aura, so much so that he wet himself.
- “That has nothing to do with me! It's all Jonah's fault! I have nothing to do with it!” he kept saying, the fear in his gaze growing more intense.
- With a blank expression, Torin asked, “Do you have Jonah's phone number?”
- Julian nodded. “Yes, I do have it!”
- “Call him and ask if he was behind the construction site accident! If you can get him to admit it, I'll spare your life! If you can't, you won't live past tonight!”
- Julian quickly nodded. “Okay, I'll call. I'll call right now!”
- With a wave of Torin's hand, Julian regained mobility in his right arm. Without hesitation, he pulled out his phone and dialed Jonah's number.
- Quickly, the call connected, and Jonah's voice came through. “Mr. Julian, can I help you?”
- Glancing at Torin, Julian deliberately spoke in an urgent tone, “Mr. Dawson, we have a problem! Torin has been released from prison!”
- Jonah, having just been taught a lesson by Torin, harbored resentment toward him and grinned eerily. “I know! Don't worry, this brat can only have his way for a few more days. I'll take care of him soon!”
- Julian came up with a way to get Jonah to admit it and warned, “Mr. Dawson, you need to tread carefully. His family was destroyed by you. If he finds out, he'll surely seek revenge on you.”
- Jonah was stunned for a couple of seconds, then asked in a cold voice, “You found out about what happened at the construction site?”
- “If it wasn't you, then who could it be? Mr. Dawson, I'm quite worried right now. Please deal with him as soon as possible, or else I won't be able to sleep.”
- Jonah scoffed. “He's just an insignificant ant. I could squash him with a single finger!”
- Julian hadn't heard Jonah admit to it, so he continued, “Mr. Dawson, do you think Torin will investigate the incident at the construction site?”
- Jonah sneered. “The construction site incident was kept under wraps. There's no way he could trace it back to me. Oh, and by the way, I did that for you. Now that this Torin guy is out of jail, you should at least contribute in some way, right. Wire me another million later!”
- Julian hurriedly said, “Of course, Mr. Dawson. I'll transfer the money tomorrow. But Mr. Dawson, you were quite ruthless back in the day, causing an accident that resulted in so many deaths.”
- Jonah said, “D*mn it. My initial plan was just to cause a little accident to get Torin to come back home. But I didn't expect Wyatt to corrode the supporting steel pipes and cause them to break, resulting in three deaths and one injury. Hmph, but looking at it now, I think the Yelton family deserved it! I'll make sure that b*stard Torin suffers, too!”
- Zinnia's beautiful eyes were filled with tears when she heard that. Jonah is absolutely despicable! He's nothing short of a devil!
- After exchanging a few more words, Jonah ended the call with Julian.
- He quickly turned to Torin and said, “You heard it too. I had nothing to do with this. It was all Jonah's doing!”
- Suppressing his murderous intent, Torin said nonchalantly, “You're free to leave. Once you're back, bring some gifts to the Lindgren family and tell them you're not worthy of Zinnia!”
- Stunned for a moment, Julian quickly nodded in agreement. “Yes, sir, I'll definitely go!”
- “I've done something to you. An unbearable itch will flare up all over your body every other day, and only I can relieve you of this, so it's best if you don't stray too far from me! If you dare to defy my will or play any tricks, you'll die in agony within three days!” Torin cautioned.
- Julian had already experienced Torin's tactics, knowing Torin was practically a monster. He dared not resist at all and kept nodding his head in agreement.
- In no time, Julian, accompanied by his bodyguards, stumbled away.
- With a soft sigh, Zinnia said, “Only now do I realize, Jonah had been deceiving me all along.”
