Chapter 11 The Chat Group Of Dr Yelton
- Terrified that Torin might end up in jail again, Zinnia quickly suggested, “Torin, we could call the police.”
- Torin's gaze softened as he said, “Zinnia, don't worry, I'm not the same Torin from the past.”
- Zinnia nodded. “Torin, I've already called dad. You should come over to my house.”
- The strained relationship with her family had always been a thorn in Zinnia's heart. Her determination to be with Torin had once caused a major fallout with her father, Jeremiah.
- Now that Torin had safely returned, her greatest wish was to mend her relationship with her father. Thus, she wanted to go home with Torin and make amends.
- Torin chuckled. “Zinnia, I am determined to impress Mr. Lindgren so much that he won't oppose us being together anymore.”
- Zinnia nodded firmly. She didn't really harbor high hopes, but she believed such things were worth a try. After all, as a daughter, who wouldn't yearn for their parents' blessings?
- Torin had actually visited Zinnia's home before. That time, he was unceremoniously driven out by Jeremiah, a truly humiliating experience. Now, returning to the Lindgren residence, he was no longer the same person, his mindset had significantly changed.
- “Zinnia, let's go pick out some gifts,” he suggested.
- Zinnia was curious. “What gifts?”
- Torin said, “I treated quite a few wealthy and powerful individuals while I was in prison, and they gifted me numerous gifts in return. Some of these things are pretty good. I'll pick out a few to give Mr. and Mrs. Lindgren later.”
- Zinnia was quite curious, wondering what kind of gifts these wealthy and powerful individuals could possibly offer?
- After having breakfast with Zinnia, Torin took a cab home and together, they picked out some gifts.
- Upon arriving at the Yelton residence, Zinnia discovered that Torin's study was filled to the brim with gifts. Each one was beautifully packaged, exuding an air of luxury.
- She exclaimed in surprise, “So many gifts! Torin, did all these come from your patients?”
- Torin nodded. “In the span of three years, I've saved numerous people.”
- Casually, Zinnia picked up a gift box. The box was wrapped in high-quality satin. Upon unwrapping it, she discovered a sandalwood box. The surface was adorned with intricate carvings, exuding an air of antique elegance.
- Upon opening the box, an emerald sculpture was revealed. The sculpture, standing slightly taller than a fist, was meticulously carved from premium trapiche emerald. The exquisite craftsmanship was evidently the work of a master sculptor.
- Upon seeing the emerald sculpture, Zinnia let out a soft gasp, exclaiming, “Such a beautifully crafted emerald sculpture!”
- Torin asked, “Zinnia, would it be appropriate to use this as a gift?”
- Zinnia chuckled. “My dad has a thing for antiques and gemstones, he would surely love it.”
- Torin produced two more bottles of wine, each encased in an exquisitely designed box. Upon opening them, four slightly aged bottles of wine were revealed.
- Zinnia took a glance and chuckled. “Vintage whiskey, truly a rarity. Torin, these gifts are far from ordinary. It seems the gift-givers must be either wealthy or noble.”
- Zinnia carefully selected two gifts, one for each of her parents, before they both headed toward the Lindgren residence.
- As they got into the taxi, Torin suddenly said, “Zinnia, we should have driven there ourselves.”
- Zinnia was taken aback. “Drive? But we don't have a car.”
- Torin chuckled. “No car? We can always buy one.”
- He unlocked his phone, swiftly created a group chat, and then added everyone whose names were noted down in Charles' notebook into the group.
- It wasn't long before someone noticed they had been added to the group chat and exclaimed, “Is this a group created by Dr. Yelton, the miracle doctor? Haha, what an honor!”
- “Dr. Yelton! This is great. Now, I won't have to go to the hospital every time I feel under the weather.”
- “Dr. Yelton's group? Fantastic! Hello everyone, I'm Howard from the State Department of Land and Resources. Please take good care of me!”
- “Greetings, leaders. I'm Murphy from the Public Integrity Bureau.”
- Gradually, the group membership swelled to over a hundred people. Each person silently updated their group nickname, typically a combination of their job title and name.
- The group of over a hundred people didn't know each other well, so when they joined the group, they were all quietly thrilled. As people standing at the pinnacle of the pyramid, they fully understood that Torin's group was not to be underestimated!
- The group chat quickly livened up. It was filled with provincial bigwigs, famous figures from Jacaster, big shots from the entertainment industry, and titans of the business world. Any one of them pulled out at random was a person of significant importance.
- Everyone was greeting each other, and every now and then, someone would send a monetary gift.
- After setting up the chat group, Torin texted: Folks, I'm currently in Hofcaster and urgently need to buy a used car. Do any of you have any leads?
- A certain Chadwick from Goldcrest Group immediately replied: Dr. Yelton, what kind of car do you prefer? Whether it's a Bentley, a Ferrari, or a Rolls-Royce, I have them all. Feel free to take whichever you like.
- This individual was incredibly generous, even offering to gift a car to Torin. A year ago, Chadwick's corporation had just gone public. He was full of ambition and high spirits. However, he was suddenly diagnosed with bone cancer, which had already metastasized.
- For a time, his heart was filled with despair, and he found himself weeping in the middle of the night more than once. Later on, a friend from the business world suggested he seek help from a miracle doctor called Dr. Yelton.
- On a last-ditch effort, Chadwick went to Dragon Lake Prison and met Torin. Faced with bone cancer, considered incurable by doctors, Torin merely gave him a prescription.
- Once back home, Chadwick took his medication daily. A week later, he returned to the hospital for a follow-up. To his delight, the cancer cells in his blood had vanished. After continuing his medication for another two weeks, Chadwick was brimming with vitality. All tests indicated that the cancer cells had been successfully suppressed!
- Two months later, Chadwick's cancer was completely cured. From despair to rebirth, he was filled with gratitude toward Torin, seeing him as his savior.
- So, when Torin mentioned he needed to buy a used car, he was immediately ready to give his car worth millions to Torin.
- Upon seeing Chadwick steal the spotlight, everyone else chimed in, claiming they too owned cars.
- Torin texted: The car doesn't need to be too luxurious, around a million or so would be fine.
- Chadwick: Dr. Yelton, one of my subordinates is in Hofcaster owns a BMW 7 Series. Although the car might seem a bit modest, it's still quite powerful.
- Torin nodded. All right, thank you, Mr. Lusk.
- Chadwick hastily replied: Dr. Yelton, you're welcome. I'm honored to be of service to you. Haha.
- Subsequently, Chadwick handed his subordinate's business card to Torin.
- In the state capital, within the headquarters of Goldcrest Group, the forty-five-year-old Chadwick was frantically dialing his subordinate's number. He remembered a deputy general manager stationed in Hofcaster who had bought a BMW 7 series. It would be perfect to “sell” it to Torin.
- “Hello? Gav?”
- In Hofcaster, within the office of Goldcrest Real Estate, the deputy general manager, Gavin, hastily stood up, his face beaming with a smile. “Boss, what are your orders?” he asked.
- Chadwick asked, “Hey, Gav, did you just purchase a BMW 7 Series? Is the car nice?”
- Gavin chuckled. “Boss, I've got a 6.6-liter, twelve-cylinder BMW, a special edition car. There are less than ten of those in the entire country.”
- Chadwick said, “That's acceptable. I'll give you an address, drive your car there. Dr. Yelton is looking to buy a used car, and yours will do. So, sell it to Dr. Yelton.”
- Gavin was utterly shocked. “Boss, but I've only had my car for three days...”
- “Cut the chatter, sell this car to Dr. Yelton for two hundred thousand. Oh, and transfer the ownership while you're at it. Also, make sure you keep up with the car's maintenance on time, don't give Dr. Yelton any trouble.”
- Gavin was on the verge of tears. His car, which had cost nearly three million, was being sold for a mere two hundred thousand? And he even had to pay for the maintenance of the car for the buyer. Was there no justice in the world?
