Chapter 1 Released From Prison
- At Dragon Lake Prison in Hofcaster.
- Five luxury cars were parked in front of the usually deserted prison entrance, and even the cheapest among them was worth tens of millions.
- Meanwhile, a few of the elite figures from both the political and business circles of Heiclor were standing at the entrance of the prison. They were staring at the prison gates, their necks craned in anticipation, clearly waiting for someone.
- “Mr. Ludlam, why hasn't Dr. Yelton come out yet?” someone asked.
- “Many prison guards and inmates benefited from his kindness. Now that Dr. Yelton is leaving, they naturally want to give him a proper send-off.”
- The individual sighed in admiration. “As expected of a miracle doctor, Dr. Yelton's medical skills are truly unparalleled! I heard that he cured Mr. Lozano's severe illness just a couple of months ago. And last month, he completely healed Mr. Carter's chronic disease. We should make a good impression on Dr. Yelton when we meet him later!”
- The others all nodded in agreement. Building a good relationship with the miracle doctor was like adding an extra layer of insurance to their lives. After all, no one could guarantee they would never fall ill!
- Inside the prison at that moment.
- A young man in his early twenties, with short hair and strikingly handsome features, stretched out his arms. A rather plump and pale man, with a jovial smile on his face, helped him change out of his prison uniform.
- The young man was none other than the miracle doctor, Torin Yelton. Over the course of his three-year imprisonment, he had cured many chronic ailments of both the prison guards and inmates. Now on the brink of his release, the guards and prisoners had just finished throwing him a farewell party.
- The one currently helping him change out of his prison clothes was none other than the warden of Dragon Lake Prison, Charles Linton.
- After changing into a new outfit, Charles said with a smile, “Mr. Yelton, it's about time.”
- Torin gave a nod, turning to stride away with an air of nonchalance.
- The prison warden quickly followed behind him, and after a few steps, he handed over a notebook. He said, “Mr. Yelton, I've recorded all the bigwigs you've treated over the years in here. You might find it useful in the future, so please keep it.”
- Torin took the notebook, saying, “Thank you, Charles.”
- He had successfully treated Charles' mother's stomach cancer last year, as well as his father-in-law's stroke. Since then, the latter had held a high regard for Torin.
- At this point, Charles handed him a bank card while saying with a smile, “Mr. Yelton, you've been treating people free of charge over the years. However, those dignitaries always feel indebted, which is why they've sent over numerous gifts. I took the initiative to dispose of those that weren't particularly precious, selling them for over two million. The rest, I'll deliver to your home once you return.”
- Torin took the bank card, nodding his head. “You've worked hard.”
- Charles chuckled, insisting it wasn't a hardship. He then assisted Torin in unlocking the security door, and together, they headed toward the prison's main entrance.
- Upon stepping out of the main entrance, the five individuals waiting for Torin immediately chorused, “Congratulations on your release, Dr. Yelton!”
- A man with notably large ears approached first. Smiling, he said, “Dr. Yelton, we were overjoyed to hear about your regained freedom, so we specifically made this trip to bid you farewell!”
- Then he produced an envelope, offering it with both hands, saying, “I've prepared a small amount of travel funds. It's not much, but I hope you will accept it with a smile, Dr. Yelton!”
- Charles took the envelope on behalf of Torin, grinning as he said, “Mr. Ludlam, you're far too kind.”
- He then opened the envelope, finding a check for two hundred thousand inside, along with an exquisitely crafted business card.
- Following this, the rest of them presented their “gifts,” each amounting to two hundred thousand.
- Torin was somewhat moved and bowed to the crowd. “I am grateful to all of you! If there's ever a need for my assistance in the future, I won't hesitate.”
- Everyone was overjoyed as this was the promise they had all been waiting for!
- Charles had prepared a car for Torin. Everyone watched as he got into the vehicle, their gazes following it until it disappeared into the distance.
- The car was moving along, and as Torin gazed at the scenery receding outside the window, his eyes darkened in thought.
- Three years ago, a major accident occurred at the construction site managed by the Yelton family. The site shed collapsed, instantly killing Torin's parents and sister-in-law. Additionally, his elder brother was left a paraplegic.
- He was consumed by grief, juggling the responsibilities of arranging the funerals while caring for his seriously injured brother and his one-year-old niece.
- However, while he was cleaning up the construction site, he noticed that the shed had been tampered with. Someone had deliberately caused an accident, and he immediately called the police.
- However, the day after he reported to the police, he was knocked unconscious on his way home, and when he woke up, he found himself at the police station. The authorities accused him of assault, claiming that he had seriously injured someone before he passed out. But he didn't recognize the victim at all, nor did he remember hurting anyone.
- No one was willing to listen to his defense, and in the end, he was sentenced to four years and five months.
- After being incarcerated, he was unable to communicate with his family. On his third day in prison, he was severely beaten by a group of inmates for no reason.
- As he teetered on the brink of unconsciousness from his severe injuries, the emerald pendant he wore shattered, sending him into a prolonged dream. Within this dream, a figure claiming to be an ancestor of the Yelton family bestowed upon him unparalleled medical skills and supreme martial arts techniques.
- In that dream, a flood of memories surged into his mind. He found himself in possession of medical skills far beyond the era he lived in, as well as an inconceivable martial arts lineage!
- After waking up, he tried practicing the breathing techniques he remembered. The results were impressive, and within a few days, his injuries had healed.
- Since then, he had dedicated himself to mastering medicine and martial arts, quickly earning the title of the prison's miracle doctor, saving countless lives. Over the past year, even prominent figures from the political and business spheres had started to seek him out, drawn by his growing reputation, asking him for treatment.
- Reflecting on the past, he murmured, “To the villain who took my family's lives, I will make you yearn for death! And Zinnia, it's been three years. How have you been?”
- Thinking of Zinnia Lindgren, his gaze softened. Zinnia was his girlfriend, the love of his life.
- At that thought, Torin opened the notebook, found a number, and dialed it. “Mr. Snyder, could you help me locate Zinnia Lindgren's whereabouts...”
- In a luxurious private room at Opulent Bliss Club, Hofcaster.
- A woman of bountiful curves and unparalleled beauty stood helplessly. Her figure was flawless, her skin fairer than snow. She was dressed in a form-fitting black dress and purple stockings. At present, she was incredibly anxious, her body trembling slightly.
- Across from her on the couch, there sat a man in his thirties. With narrowed eyes, he greedily took in the sight of the woman's perfect curves.
- “Come a little closer,” he said.
- The woman remained still, though she looked at the man and asked, “Mr. Dawson, can you really help Torin to get out of prison early?”
- The man chuckled. “In Hofcaster, I, Jonah Dawson, hold considerable sway. Getting him out of prison would be a matter of a single sentence. But, if you want my help, you'll have to behave yourself!”
- Zinnia clenched her fists tightly, her nails almost piercing the flesh of her palms. She knew exactly what was about to happen next.
- The man watched her reaction closely, a smug smile playing at the corners of his mouth. He continued, “Torin is having a miserable time in prison, getting beaten up every day. If he doesn't get out soon, he's sure to die in there.”
- With a shudder coursing through her, Zinnia urgently asked, “How is Torin doing now?”
- Over the years, she had been unable to get in touch with Torin. She had tried visiting him in prison several times, but the prison authorities consistently denied her requests for various reasons.
- At that moment, Jonah took out his phone and made a video call. He said, “I have a friend in Dragon Lake Prison. I'll ask him for a favor so you can see the situation your boyfriend is in.”
- The video call connected swiftly, and he flashed a smile at the person on the other side. “Mr. Wagner, my friend here would like to catch a glimpse of the prisoner, Torin Yelton. Could you possibly accommodate us?”
- An unassuming middle-aged man of short stature appeared before them. With a smile, he said, “Of course, I'll respect your wishes, Mr. Dawson. Please give me a moment.”
- After half a minute, Jonah turned his cell phone screen toward Zinnia, saying nonchalantly, “Look, this is your boyfriend, Torin.”
- On the screen, a disheveled young man was curled up on the ground. His thin and filthy body was covered in blood. At that moment, his face was turned downward, so there was no way to get a look at it.
- Zinnia's heart broke as she called out, “Torin! What's wrong with you? Are you sick? Torin!”
- The so-called “warden” swiftly turned the screen away, and when he spoke, his voice was cold and detached. “Torin is seriously ill right now. He's unconscious, and it's highly likely he won't make it through the week.”
- Zinnia wanted to catch a few more glimpses of Torin, but Jonah had already turned off the video. He looked at Zinnia, seriously saying, “You've seen it yourself. If your boyfriend doesn't get out of jail soon, he's definitely not going to survive in there!”
- Tears streamed down Zinnia's face like a broken dam. She hung her head in agony, no longer caring about anything else. Sobbing, she pleaded, “Mr. Dawson, I'll do anything you ask, just please, save Torin!”
